Anyone have any experience with this DVD player?

It's a nice piece, but I think video without navigation is pretty useless.

I'm not to concerned with any Navigation function (although the Pioneer unit with realtime traffic reports would be cool). I've got a PDA with a wireless Bluetooth GPS unit that's portable between vehicles and works great for taking me wherever I need to go.
I'm mostly looking for the entertainment value, being able to keep passengers (and occasionaly myself) entertained on long trips or the occasional times I'm waiting on someone.
How hard is it to disable the parking brake lock thingy where you can't watch DVD's?

that's illegal.
It works great.
Video works great.
Touch screen works great.
Nav is nice to have but video is cool AND you get a larger easier to read display with a video unit.

a wise person showed me an easy trick...all you have to do is barely press the e-brake, just one click or just enough that the e-brake light comes on, but it doesn't press against the disc, and it will work fine.:D i don't usually do this, but it works great for when i want to quickly enter a destination, while i'm on the go.

Pac makes a switch that will automatically throw ground and power to turn on the alpine screens so you don't have to press the brake and flip a switch. I think the part number is TR7.

works great no problems...
setting th park brake will not work. its a multi-task operation to get past on the newer models.
Great unit... the new D310 has improved user interface, in my opinion.

Damn that is a really good price for one. I just sold my older model for 500.00 and it wasnt even a full entertainment system. It had a seperate dvd player. My friend sells them at work there like 1400.00 bucks and can get them for 1100.00 with employee purchase. Shit you can get it cheaper than him............Good deal get it....If you dont Lemmie get it :D
