Looking for some advice on a new computer setup.
Should I get a packaged deal from Gateway or Dell? Or piece something together from Fry's?
How about eBay?
Wants:
-at least 512 ram
-at least 100gb hard drive
-at least 2.0 ghz processor
-ability to play new pc games like WOW, Battlefield, Unreal games, etc.
-ability for future upgrades
Might as well pick up a new monitor, keyboard, mouse, speaker system...
Budget: $500-$700
Thanks for helping a newb out !

I pieced mine together from Fry's/Ebay. If you have to have a new monitor, then it is going to screw up your $700 budget real quick.
My computer is as follows:
3.2 ghz P4 with motherboard from Frys
ATI 256mb AGP video card from Ebay (new)
512 mb of RAM from Frys
120 gig hard drive from Best Buy (price matched Frys)
Very nice computer case bought here off the board
Added an additional CD writer from Frys
I spent about $450 total for everything. New. I re-used my Dell monitor and keyboard, speakers, etc...

forget 512mb ram if you wanna play BF2.
Youre looking at going for at least 1gb ram, 6600GT vid card (it can be AGP), 2.0ghz processor and a combo drive. youre also looking at, on top of that, a nice PSU, motherboard, case, and thats about it.

That budget will be tough unless you go with one of the Frys cpu/mobo combo's. For gaming go with an Athlon 64 and the 6600GT would be perfect. You can get the cpu/mobo for under $200.
