Trying to decide between these two.
MSI (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813130516)
DFI (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813136145)
Also, on Newegg, whats the difference in the OEM and the Retail version of Windows XP?

I've used TONS of msi motherboards ( 60+ ) and most of them have probably had more thrown at them then any power user would ever throw ( 24x7 running with 60%+ cpu always being used ) and they always ran great.
But in all honesty, if I was building an intel system, I would buy an intel motherboard.

Retail=what you would get had you went to Fry's, best buy, etc to buy it.
Oem=cd's and a manual bundled in bubble wrap.

Actually I heard not to go intel board. Either way, if i were to go intel, what board would you recommend that is in that same price range?

I wouldnt, I would go AMD. The last 200 servers and 3 desktop machines I have built, have been AMD. I think I've built maybe 6 Intel desktop boxes in the last 2 years, they were solid machines, but we went with intel boards on them.

My last mobo was a gigashit and it went out. before that my MSI stayed strong like whoa. Currectly I have a DFI and it runs awesome so far.

DFI here.. with AMD..
And the OEM isn't any different than the retail. Just no pretty box, and you save some money.

Another vote for ASUS. My current board is ASUS and my previous as well. Solid boards.
