$10 doesn't pay gas.
How about $300-500?

well I guess it would only be $10 if you bought in and lost :p
we play just about every Saturday night, $20 tourney and $1/$2 NL cash game afterwards. Cash game starts around midnight and goes til dawn most of the time. Well over $500 in the til at any given time, and as much as $1000... if you're interested

Now we are geting interesting... I have a $400 buyin twice a month when I'm in town out in Carrolton.
I'll be back in town regulary after Sept, I'll make it out there. Typically I run out to Shrevport for the mid-week fix and Vegas when need be. Been out in Cali for a good time now, so I hit up Bicycle and Larry Flynt's club. I'll probably be out here until end of the month (Bicycle Casino) for the WPT Legends.

we play in the Plano/The Colony area
$400 buy in?!?!?!? tourney? cash game? either way, waaay too rich for me. In our cash game we usually buy in for ~$40 or so the first time, and as people come and go they can buy in equal to the biggest stack at the moment.
01WhiteCobra, sounds like you are out of my league
I've never heard the term 'third pair'

You'd be amazed at how many suck-ass rich men there are willing to risk $400 like they were buying a loaf of bread. Depending on how many people show up, we'll run one or two tables.
It's setup like a sit-n-go tournament whereas you buy into the table get 1500 in chips and play till last man standing on the table. Usually takes about 2 hours to complete. Depending on the night, we've shut down after one round or we've gone until morning.
I play alot of sit-n-go tournaments on line. Typically the 50-100 buyins. In the 50s the payout is three places, 225, 135 and 90. In the 100s its 450, 270,180. Like I said it takes about an hour to complete. I'm trying to bone up and start entering the 200 and 1000 buyin sit-n-gos, but losing 200-1000 in an hour still frightens me. :D
That way you aren't committing to hours on end for a tourney and its like being at the "final table".
Got my ass kicked two days ago, flopped a straight A-10 (had ace/jack suited). flop came K-Q-10. A gambler went all-in, some called and so I figured what the hell I got the nuts at the moment.
We all turned the cards and the gambler had K-7. I was pumped. A pair against a straight. 4th came... 7.... river came... King. FUCK! Full freakin' house. Of course the gambler was out about 3 hands afterwards.

LOL.
And that is why I play most high stakes in Vegas or with a bunch of rich lawyers and doctors.

I play online tourneys as well, but have never been in for more than a $40 buy in. The tournaments we play at home are just a $20 buy in, sit and go type as well that usually starts around 8:00 and goes to about 10:30-11:00. Damn, big stakes over where you're at! It will be a while before I have $400 in disposable income to gamble with at any given time... balla
last night online I have pocket 2's and the flop comes 2 3 4, I go all in (I was a little short stacked) and a guy calls me with 4 5, river comes a 6.
The tourney right before that I have A 7. The flop comes K A 4. I check and he bets, I call. The turn is an A. I check, he bets, I go all in, he calls. We turn over our cards and he has pocket Kings. The river is a J.
Now in a cash game for whatever remaining money I have. I have J 9. The flop comes 8 Q J. He bets, I call. The turn shows a 4 or somethoing. He bets, I call. The river come the 10 I was waiting for. He bets, I go all in, he calls. I'll be damned if he didn't have A K. Bear in mind we both limped in.
Sometimes I'm glad I don't play high stakes :)

i was going to talk to my brother in law and see if he wanted to get something set up one night. i have been watching WPT on t.v. and have been wanting to play in a bad way. i would rather play on the weekends. i can handle a $10-20 buy in.

I got a big bank roll (and getting bigger at the Commerce Casino). I'll be back in Texas in September.
