Well I made 2 passes on the 100 shot of nitrous tonight. The car was running high 7.20's on motor in the 1/8 all night. So after I lost in the bracket race I decided to turn the bottle on an make a couple of tuning passes. The first pas was with less than 900 psi on the bottle and I forgot to retard the timing so it ran a decent 6.97 @ 99 mph. The second pass I had 1100 psi in the bottle and the timing retarded 6* and ran a 6.90 @ 99 mph. Neither pass could I hook up. Spun the tires all the way past 60 foot. The 60 foots were 1.57 and 1.55 and I normally do that on motor. Looks like if it will hook up a 6.70 should happen with the 100 shot. Going to try and ease the hp level up some but have to be careful since my engine has 12.7:1 compression.

What is your mph on motor ?? -- and What is your shift points ?? --- You'll probably pick up by putting a tighter stall ---- I typically pick up 7 mph on my 100 shot ..

Mph on motor was 93 I was shifting @ 6500. Stall is 4500 and I did'nt fell any slipping of the convertor. Just the tires The car even tracked sideways for over 60 feet on the 2nd pass.

Why are you worried about the compression being 12.7 to 1?

That myth about wanting lower compression with nitrous has been gone for quite a while now.

Yep....Rods and crank too. I figured the head gaskets would not hold either. You know with only 4 bolts per cylinder holding the head down.

i run the cheap fel-pro head gask. that come in gasket kit.

i would blow a gask. than destro a piston.

I though tthe rule of thumb was 2 degrees per 50 RWHP, so 100 shot would be like minus 3-4 degrees not -6?

I think you are leaving -.1 ET on the table...

I think you are leaving -.1 ET on the table... You are correct. I looked once I unloaded the car and saw that I retarded the timing only 5*. I adjusted the timing in the dark so I was just guessing. I would ruther have the timing a little too retarded than too far advanced and hurt the engine.

Most go by 2 for every 50hp after 100.
So on a 100 you shouldnt retard but 1-2 if any.

I'm with Econodrag... Better safe than sorry. Always easier to add a little more than take it back after it's too late.

Put some race gas in the tank and bring that timing back up a few degrees at a time,it should help the MPH and the ET.

BTW I think those old cougars are bad ass.Always wanted one.

It had 110 octane in the tank. Thats what is always ran in the car since it is a 12.7:1 motor.

That should be plenty enough for 100 shot with full timing.Possibly even a little overkill.
