If you can't find Quart, Morel, Diamond, Focal, Dynaudio or Rainbow stuff then yeah go for Bostons. I guess it depends on which set and what you expect but after hearing something like the Quart QSD 216s, Morel hybrid ovations or some Utopias you won't settle for anything less.
The JL XR's have good midbass. We just got the ZR's in and I'm hoping they sound better than the QSD's.

where can i find information on this stuff?
thanks for the input
google or yahoo!
There aren't too many Focal or Morel dealers locally and noone that I know of sells Rainbow or Dynaudio.
Mobile Sound in Arlington carries Morel, Diamond and Quarts. I'm sure Autosound carries the nice Alpines, Quarts and obviously JL.
I'd just take some of your favorite "musical" cds into the stores and listen to them all. The QSD series of Quarts sound completely beautiful to me and are the cream of the crop right now. I'd listen to those for reference before buying the others.

by the way, most of the speakers in this thread are in the vicinity of 1000$ per pair.
Just because I know your budget.
You should get some diamond macDaddy's. Hit hard as a bitch.

QSDs are under $600 on ebay:) Good luck with warranty issues but they can be had for less. You can get into some RCE 216s for $250 or so, they work nicely but aren't the best in the world.

Well, how hard exactly does a bitch hit?
BP, I know what you're saying, my point was that he wants a full system for 1500$.
