Dang
I don't think I could ever picture Modano not playing on the Stars.
This will be one different season for all of hockey it seems.

I"m not surprised that I had to correct a Stars fan. I'm use to keeping them straight and up to date on their team. :p

Wow shit! Good for them. Hopefully they'll do good this year.
Where are you getting all of your information from? Is there like some central site dedicated to nothing but hockey news?

I hit yahoo sports, NHL.com, espn and a couple of team sites. There have been a flurry of moves in the past 2 days. When it's all said and done it's going to be tough to remember who plays for who with all the changes beeing made.

Who knows, we will just have to wait. The players can chabnge their minds up until they sign on the dotted line.

The teams' website is saying that he signed sometime earlier tonight. If it is true then I am elated! Modano is my favorite player on the Stars and in the NHL.
His choice of agents is poor in my opinion because Dallas has had to bend over backwards to deal with him, but at least they are able to keep him here for good now.
Also, Peter Forsberg got inked by Philidelphia. Looks like the "Bullies" are trying to seriously load up for a run.

I haven't been very impressed with Modano's play for the past two seasons.
Wouldn't break my heart if the Stars lost him.Zubov was an important signing.

Modano signs five-year deal with Stars
Wednesday, August 03, 2005
After two days of rumors and speculation that had his days as a Dallas Stars coming to an end, Mike Modano ended up staying put. Modano Wednesday signed a five-year deal with the Stars that will pay him more than $17 million.
The signing came just hours after Modano had rejected a deal from the Stars and his agent told the team Modano would be exploring offers from other NHL clubs.
"After a whirlwind day, it brings me great pleasure to announce that we were able to work out a contract to keep Mike Modano in Dallas for the next five years," Stars GM Doug Armstrong said in a news release. "He's a great player and has been a wonderful ambassador for hockey in Dallas. This new contract practically ensures that Mike will retire a Dallas Star, and we are thrilled that he will be back with us."
Modano's contract will count around $3.5 million against the cap each of the five years.
The deal came after several teams approached Modano with offers that were multi-year deals that would pay somewhere between $4.5 million and $5.5 million according to various reports.
The Boston Bruins had been rumored to be the front-runner with a four-year, $21 million deal. The Chicago Blackhawks were said to be in the mix as well. There were several other teams that made pitches for Modano as well including Atlanta, which dropped out Tuesday after signing free agent Bobby Holik.
But at the end of the day Modano,35, took less money per season and stayed with the Stars franchise, the one that drafted him first overall in 1988. The one with which he has spent his entire NHL career. The one with which he one a Stanley Cup.
Modano is the franchise leader in points (1,062), goals (444), assists (618) and games played (1,025).

Sidney Crosby.
They've said that about all of the rookies that have gone #1 for the past few years. Vincent Lecavalier has just now come into his own, but is basically 'decent' in my eyes and he was supposed to be the next 'Great One' too. We'll see how he pans out as with the others before him.

you are very correct and i was thinking the same exact thing with the same exact example. .... except i was too lazy to type it! :D
actually i think lecavalier is pretty soft from what i've seen ...but then again they said that about madano at that stage of his career.
once hockey season cranks up, do folks from here gather at a sports bar/rest'rant to watch games??? sports city cafe in rowlett is a great place and they have the room.

Well, it's obvious that you won't root for any Dallas teams. How about the Oilers?

Yes. The blackhawks. I don't like the blackhawks.Okay, I was just wondering. I'm assuming your question would've been something along the lines of "Why do you ask?" so go ahead and pose another question if that's not the one you originally intended to pose.
"Da Blackhawks" just doesn't roll off the tongue as well as "Da Bears" or "Da Bulls," does it?
