I'm about to buy a parts kit and piece one together. I was just looking on here first to see if anyone had one they want to get rid of.

I remember back in 95' when Heat came out in the theaters. Thats when I wanted to have one. They're not that expensive if you get the european copy. I believe the name is Cetme?

The CETME is the original H&K G3 H&K originally made the CETME for the spanish military liked the design enough that they refined it, changed the sights and built the H&K G3 the 91 ans other designs were based off this rifle

The FAL was a refinement of the FN 49 originally an 7mm and 8mm rifle it was chambered in 308 a detachable box mag was fitted then it was redesigned to the FAL (Fusil Automatique Leigeir) (my french spelling sux)

CETME's can be had in the $350 range but the design has no gas regulation and they kick like a kentucky mule

FAL's start in and around $600 for a decent century rifle and go up from there but it offers the easiest feild strip of a battle rifle, adjustable gas system, and a tapet piston system.

You're correct on the history. Most people dont realize that the CETME was the precursor to the HK version.

And the kick isn't that bad. You get used to it. :D

And good luck with your FAL search. Have you tried any gun shows?

The kick is about like shooting a 20 guage shotgun. Its not at all that bad. I've have seen the CETME kits. I've also seen several imported European copies such as Belgian or the Argentine versions in kits you can buy very cheap. I haven't seen H&K sell a kit but rather the whole gun for a lot more. I thought Mike was going to w/ the kit?
