DHG BULLITT

Alright, well after the coit thing shut down, everyone kinda stopped showing up to our meet at 190 and Plano because we'd meet up there and cruise over, SO BEFORE YOU CONTINUE READING, If you plan on showing up, doing burnouts, bumping your music to beyond obnoxious levels, etc... Please spare us and find someplace else to excersize your ricer tendencies.
If you wanna bring out your mustang(yes please mustang only if you will be participating in the cruise) and hang out, PLEASE SHOW, be prepared to cruise with us to a sonic or another location to be determined that night as me and the other couple guys that started this meet will walk around and see where everyone wants to cruise to.
So heres the deal, we have a weekly GTG in the N/Dallas Plano area and about 2 weeks ago we had a real nice turnout about 20 mustangs. But since then, not too many have showed. There are about 10 of us that show on a regular basis including myself. Most of us are from svtperformance but by no means is it cobra dominated seeing as I don't even drive a cobra myself and I was kind of one of the original founders of this meet.
When:
Every Tuesday @ 8 PM
Where
Ave K/Plano Rd. & 190 (George Bush Tollway) at the DART Park N Ride in Plano.
(MAP)

What we do?
Usually hang around our meeting spot for an hour or so then line em up and cruise to a designated spot (we'll usually just get the consensus on what everyone wants to do, cruise to sonic, or what have you.
I'll be there promptly at 8 PM in a DHG Bullitt, don't be shy, stop by, really we're all fun loving guys that just like to shoot the **** and see what everyones got, the cruises are really a great experiance, 20 loud rumbleing mustangs lined up down the highway, can you say HEAD TURNER?
Hope to see you guys there!

So what you are saying is that your trying to use DFWStangs to organize an Illegal Street Racing Event and hold the Bulletin Board Responsible for the Organization of it? Its against the board rules.
I hope the cops go out there and bust your arse and throw you in jail. People like this give Ford Owners a BAD name.

Yeah Right. By organizing a Illegal Street Racing Event, you are giving Police and the Public more reasons to target high performance vehicles.
#1 I'm not the one that said we'll "find a wide open spot to run em" at a GTG.

Dude, the only time there has been a race was when a 03 was challenged by a srt-4..
The srt-4 and cobra went somewhere, WITHOUT the rest of the people who came, to run.
We werent there, nor have we as a group just lined them up for no reason. Were not retarted.

I guess since the whole point of this thread was to get a bigger group of cars back together, why not.
What do you drive? I guess i say mustang only because im REALLY trying to keep the ricers away, last time we met, we cruised to 190 and coit (about 10 of us) and we were just sitting there enjoying the evening and a group of hondas showed up, pull some goofy burnouts and bump there systems. And then leave, so ofcourse the cops show and we get bitched at by the po.
Let me change my statement, TRUE CAR ENTHUSIASTS ONLY!

Sanger and Redline always appeared to be "wide open spots" to me. He didnt outright say illegally racing on a street.
After that being said, this group always seemed to be the more mature of the people that showed up at the walmart meet. Automatically assuming that because they want to meet up in town, and drive out to a location where they can lay down a little rubber sounds like a jumped conclusion to me. And pretending like you've never owned a high performance vehicle and had the urge to let it breathe a little is more than likely hypocritical.
so just chill dude, if you dont go around streetracing then you shouldnt have a problem if the police choose to target street racers. Honestly with all the mustangs that have been stolen recently, I would welcome any police attention to these vehicles.

Just reading this thread, I have to laugh a lot of what is being said. Specifically this comment.
I have absolutely no problem with cops targeting "STREET RACERS". I have a MAJOR problem with cops targeting "PROFILING" people who are just driving their car NORMALLY and get painted with the street racer label because some JACKASS'es think its cool to run on the street.
How many times have normal people (Who dont street race) have been pulled over and ruffed up by the local Road Tax Officiers?
I can think of many times I've been pulled over by the local "Road Tax Officiers" and had my entire car shaken down. The last time I had that happen was when I got a call at 11pm at night and a friend needed a ride home from work because his car was dead. The cop pulled me over, accused me of "Looking for action", and proceeded to give my car the "Certified 100 point inspection". Ended up giving me a ticket for exhaust too loud and No mufflers, even though afterwards he looked under the car and saw that Not only had Catalytic Converters, but I also Had MUFFLERS. He crossed it out on his ticket. However I did get it dismissed in court, but it was still a hassle. This from someone whos over 30, who has no warrants and who was nice to the cop. His explination at the end was, I drive a High Profile car and the city has a "No Tolerance" for cars like this.
So the next time you say theres no problem with cops pulling people over, think again. I believe the police SHOULD NOT pull you over if you have done nothing wrong, regardless of the car you are driving. If he wants to check if the car is stolen, he can run your plate, believe it or not, it will print up if the car has been stolen or not.

i think maybe 2 ppl out of our group have raced at a meet and coincadently it never happened at our meet, it was over at coit and 190.
so know what were about before you attack us with OH STREET RACERS EVERYONE POINT AND HARASS!

I feel ya there. I have been pulled over by Plano PD several times for the same type of shake down. I got the exhaust too loud ticket as well, but mine is a stock GT. The only "Performance Mod" I have is a K&N. I used to work nights and would get off at 11:00. I got pulled over several times for "Looking for street races" on my way home from work.

That's fucked up because I drive a totally illegal race car on the streets of plano all the time. Never been fucked with and even had a motorcycle cop give the thumbs up! Inspection sticker has been out for over 2 years, a highly visible cage, race slicks and a seriously loud exhaust.

A cop "SHOULDNT" be able to search your car for "looking" for a street race should he/she? i also thought u had the right to refuse search and or seizure without a warrant from the officer.

That makes no sense. Maybe im not understanding the question, but why would a officer need to search the contents of your car if he/or you were looking for a street race?
Simply looking for a street race is not a crime, however participating, (racing,watching,patroling).. in this state is now a crime. If you were caught in the act of one of those, they don't need permission, but I'm troubled on what the insides of your car has to do with racing..

They must have either given consent to search their car,or the officer found probable cause to initiate a seach. Suprisingly some people still today don't know all of their rights, or they tend to become somewhat intimidated by a officer when pulled over and the officer may ask "is it ok if I take a look around in the car" and the person respond impulsively to avoid trouble.
Just remember its pretty simple, If you aren't doing anything wrong, you don't need to be searched. Simply say no. If you are getting a ticket, take your ticket and be on your way.

They can only search your car if they have probable cause, i.e. they smell dope, see something illegal, warrant if you say no or if you are dingy enough to say yes. I have been over this one several times with the ex-wife who is an attorney, LOL. I have never had this happen but if a policeman ever asked I'd say nope. If he wanted to know why I would simply say because it is my right to exercise. I doubt I will ever get a chance to exercise that right for most police I have been pulled over by are good people, :D

It's what you are doing in the car and where you are doing it I think that gets you noticed.
Even though that would make sense, I used to work night shift getting off between 11 and 1. I would get pulled over at least once a week on my way home from work. Quite often it was within a block or to from work on Plano Parkway. I was not speeding, I was in a Mustang on Plano Parkway driving the speedlimit. I was usually told that I was pulled over for "Looking for a Street Race". I was also told that my exhaust was too loud on several occasions.
I had 1 cop that would pull me over repeatedly for the same things. He used to follow me home from work, and pulled me over once and gave me a ticket for 41 in a 40. I went to court on that one and it was dismissed.
As far as searching my car, I never had a cop search my car. They would run the serial number on the inspection sticker, have me test my blinkers, hazards, brake lights, e-brake, etc... trying to find something to give me a ticket for. I do not know why I got flagged as a target, but it continued for quite awhile. I stopped driving the mustang everyday and now drive the Focus daily. I regularly speed, in the Focus around cops and I have yet to get pulled over.

quick Q, even tho were getting off topic.....
A cop "SHOULDNT" be able to search your car for "looking" for a street race should he/she? i also thought u had the right to refuse search and or seizure without a warrant from the officer.
I wouldn't think so, but they seem to do whatever they want to...
few years back I got a cop to turn around in the middle of a two lane road when I was on my way home. I was doing the speedlimit, for once, and he cut a car off turned around and chased me into my apartment complex. He then asked to see in my trunk, and pointed at my stereo capacitor and said I had Nitrous... fucken dip shit hick cops, hows a cap the size of a coke can ATTATCHED to a sub box with WIRES coming off it nitrous?
I don't think much of cops.

I'd come check it out sometime, but no one ever wants to cruise over to dallas with me. All my friends are afraid of losing a little gas money to try something new. Oh yeah I'm dfw99cobra on svtp by the way.

My grandpa died two days ago, and i will be attending the funeral instead of showing up this week.
however i did go last week and it was a small turnout. This could have been due to the threat of rain but who knows.

Small bit of info, SVT didn't build the First Gen Lightning's (you won't find ANY SVT badging whatsoever on these trucks), they did, however build the Second Gen, supercharged ones. ;)

everyone Is Welcome!!! Come Out, Just Keep In Mind, If You Get Us Kicked Out Of Another Location, Don't Be Suprised If You're Not Greated With A Warm Welcome Next Time.
I posted on about 6-7 local sites, ls1 sites, clubgp, torque central, etc....the parking lot is perfect for such an event, because everyone has already left by around 8:30 so the parking lot is of no use to any business at that time of night.

I own an '05 GTO and really enjoyed the old Tuesday evening GTG at Wal-Mart. I'd like to say, "Thanks", to DHG BULLITT for taking the initiative to try to organize a replacement Plano GTG. I've been doing the same, but with only limited success. Last Tuesday we had 2 GTOs, 2 '68 Stangs and 1 T/A that met at EZs at 7:30pm and cruised to a Sonic on Preston Road in North Frisco. The Sonic manager had offered his location as a replacement gathering place for the displaced Wal-Mart folks. A few of the people who live in the Frisco/Allen/McKinney area like the idea of this Sonic because of its location. Long term, I don't know how well it will work out.
Since you've eliminated the "Mustangs Only" requirement for your GTG, I'd like to stop by one Tuesday evening. I know several other enthusiasts who would probably come by, as well. I attend another GTG on Thursdays where the owners of Mustangs, GTOs, Vettes and F-Bodys come together harmoniously - even to the point of people allowing others to take their car for a mild loop around the parking lot (i.e. GTO owners who have never experienced a Cobra and vice-versa). Most of these guys appear to be true muscle car enthusiasts and know that parking lots are for show, Denton Dragway is for go. I would bet that at least some of them would be interested in your Tuesday GTG. I'll pass the word along to them.
It sounds to me like you're trying to create the right type of GTG, which is what most of us really want. The idea of spending some time visiting, the cruising somewhere for dinner is a really good one, in my opinion. Should you choose to make the Sonic in North Frisco your destination one Tuesday evening, you can be sure that you will be warmly welcomed there. I look forward to meeting each of you and seeing your great cars.

not only that but only a lic.dps officer can legally give you a ticket! thats why 9 x out of 10 those slick, exhaust , having tickets get dismissed! but as always it still cost you time off from work
