off of eBay last week. First time I've ever bought tires off of eBay. Got a pretty good deal on them I think, bought both of them for $40 plus $13 for shipping. They are in really good shape and have lots of life left in them. I really needed a new front tire, I was getting some head shake I think from the tire being cupped.
Pirrelli Dragon Supercorsa's in 120/60-17 and 180/55-17.

not bad for $53. now just mount them yourself, and what a deal!

I'll have to take it somewhere to get it mounted unfortunately so there goes most of my savings. But on the flip side I got a really good set where I normally would have to dig through left overs trying to find one good tire.

I know somebody that can mount those for you ;) :D
And James, before you even come on here with one of your smart ass comments, just calm down. I have no intentions of mounting anyone. Just the tires to the wheels

Your bike is going to handle so good with those tires and will stick like none other. Good tires.

What??? Unless this guys is trying to drag knee out of his damn driveway, he'll be fine. Why would you say something like this...you're gonna make him paranoid. They are race tires and pretty damn spongy/stickey cold compared to street tires.
Congrats, dude...nice find. Now you just need to learn how to mount them yourself, and you'll be as thrifty as me!! :D

okay
JOSE- Like I said. Be careful about getting on them right away when you first start out. And I'd bypass rain riding if I were you. Take it as you wish, I'm just looking out for your Evil butt. :D
Do you have any idea how many heat cycles they've gone through?

exactly, they are race tires. they have to be heated up in order to work properly. you take a corner quickly while they are cool and youre gonna meet the asphalt.

Thanks JC, I've had a set of the same tires before (another set of race take offs) and it didn't take very long for them to warm up IMO. Not sure how truthful it is but in the eBay ad it was stated that they were used for one practice session. Might be true as they've got the most thread I've seen on a set of race takeoffs.

I didn't know you could get them off ebay that quick... Why do they sell them so cheap?

JC is right. If the guy didn't use tire warmers, those tires may have undergone multiple heat cycles---- meaning they are toast. If you see a bluish color on the edges, that is a bad sign.
Assuming the tires are still good, it'll probably take 2 laps to heat up as opposed to 1/2 lap for street tires.

No blueish color on the edges. In either case, it should be fine for the street right?

Yes Thats the only tire I used on the street. I dont know you so I dont no how aggressive you ride but dont just leave the house and hit the corners. Let them warm up and they rock.

At this time of year, they'll probably be just fine for the street.

I'm sure they will be fine for rolling around the street or to just take them to a track day.

Man, why does every track junkie have to try and show off what he knows by giving some poor guy bad advice?! Fuck a street tire...you can't even compare the two. I'd put a race tire against a street tire at any point in the warm up or break in process. Almost every crash I had on the track was cause our endurance team "leader" would some times shod our bike with street tires!
This guy bought these for the street, and as I said before, unless he's trying to drag his knee out of the drive way, he's going to be fine. Scratch that...you CAN drag your knee right out of the drive way, as long as you don't rip on it leaned over. Unless there is some new DFW equivelant to the Isle of Mann race I don't know about, he's going to be fine!
As for the rain, if you don't know, don't speak! More bullshit! I've seen heards of guys on these very tires drag knee in the rain at Oak Hill, so again...bad advice. While the rain groves as fewer, the compound is softer.
I raced for over 4yrs on a budget and except for the endurance bike, I always raced on take-offs and I was knee down and working the throttle with in 1/2 a lap. My belated thanks to the paranoid riders out there that bought new race tires every weekend! I paid the tire guy $35 a set for your barely used tires that lasted me 2-3 race weekends and they stick like glue! (I was a consistant 4th-5th finisher in the novice sprints, in case you're thinking I was taking it easy on the tires.) I also have these same tires on my street bike, so I can say with no hesitation, Jose, ride how you normaly would. Your race tires are going to work better than street tires from the word go! Don't let these guys make you paranoid.
That being said, race tires do not make you bullet proof, so they do not give you license to ride like Rossi! No one wants to scrape you off the road, so use your head or end up dead!

Oh my god! We actually agree on something! :D
Hose B :D, don't worry about them. Just mount them and ride them. When I ride a big bike, I am dragging my knee within 1/2 a lap. They will be fine for the street....................trust me :D
Just think about this, when you were at the track with me, how many laps do they give us to warm up our tires? 1 lap, then they start the race. You go into turn 1 full bore! They will be fine.
