i used to have a 9835 and absolutely LOVED IT, now i have my HD and stereo shop is telling me the factory head unit is not enough power with line out converters for my amp (voltage wise) that the factory head unit will put out 1v maybe and the amp needs like 4-6v so i dunno what i'm gonna do.

your amplifier should have a little 'pot' called the GAIN. Now see, I'll very simply explain what it does, it adjusts the amplifiers sensitivity to input.
SO if you have a 1000WRMS amplifier and you have 1v of input power, it may take 80% of the gain, to get full power.
if you have 8v of input power, it may only take 10% to reach full power.
notice at the end of each example, the amplifier still makes full power.
the stronger signal will undoubtedly result in better performance/sound quality, but it's likely that your factory head unit just sounds like poop, that's pretty common.

so does everyone else, until they break, and are very expensive to service, still leaving you with god awful sound.

okay, you might want to familiarize yourself with the Magnusson-Moss act.

okay, you might want to familiarize yourself with the Magnusson-Moss act.
The Magnusson-Moss Warranty - Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act of 1975 protects consumers from such fradulent activity by new car dealers. Under this Act, aftermarket equipment that improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer's orginial warranty, unless the warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle's warrany or if it can be proven that the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure. The easiest way to check this is to look in your owner's manual under, "what is not covered". Under Magnusson-Moss Act a dealer must prove, not just vocalize, that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before they can deny warranty coverage. If they cannot prove such claim-or offer an explanation- it is your legal right to demand compliance with the warranty. The Federal Trade Commission (202.326.3128) administers the Magnusson-Moss Act and monitors compliance with warranty law.
looks ok to me :D i think i'll just deal with my factory head unit and subs untill i can afford another head unit and all the bells and whistles i'll need with it (steering wheel controls, xm or sirius tuner, etc.,)
...unless someone turns up with a 9835 fairly soon, but then i'll need a $100 data bus.... geeze, stupid GM crap
