Are Planet Audio amps any good? I'm not looking to drop $500-$600 on an amp. More like $150-$200 So I've been looking at :

Planet Audio P600.5S
Kenwood KAC959
Hifonics ZX8000

I know the snobs will cry thier all junk.....but which would you go with?

I'm looking for a 5 channel with about 400 watts RMS total.

i installed a system for a customer with a planet audio 2 channel on some MTX subs. it sounded okay, it was just real boomy due to it being in a bandpass box and in a Tahoe (he brought all this stuff to me, not stuff we sold to him). i personally thought it didnt sound to great.

out of those amps i'd probably go with the kenwood

But.... that's what....$500? Plus I actually don't need that much power.

The main reason I was interested in Planet Audio was :

A. Price
B' s/n ratio of 105Db, usually a sign of decent electronics (off thier website)
C. They are "made in the USA". (off thier website)

actually, a CD is only capable of approximately 95db s/n so anything more than that is not doing you any good, and in most cases, the s/n ratings are exaggerated.

i would go with planet audio for a number of reason. The price is affordable .
they look good they last a long time (if installed right). The only problem with planet audio is the way they are marketed. They been around while. if they had a better marketing they would be a house hold name like Jl Alpine MTX and so on. Thats just my .02 cents

that, and the quality is sub-par, that MIGHT have something to do with the lack of them being a "household name".

I have had PLENTY of experience with their equipment.

Of course i know its all on what you like and what you are happy with this could go on for days about the. Are they good or bad.

Perfect answer and only $200. It's rated at 380watts total RMS at 4 ohms, the Eclipse EA3532. It's very conservatively rated, will run 2 ohms and is a good quality brand name. There are a couple of cheaper ones on ebay but this is a buy it now.
