JL or Hifonics?

i've had 2 in the past, and they've performed exceptional. But i'm considering buying a JL Sub amp, and i just like to keep all my amps the same as far as mids and highs, and subs. So then i'd end up having to buy a 4 channel JL Amp. The prices on the Hifonics are ALOT less than the JL amps, but i'm not familiar with them. I'm getting a 500/1 for four RE 8's, is that enough? Hifonics makes larger amps, for less money, should i go with one of those? :confused:

The JL slash series amplifiers consistently make 20% more than rated power.

The Hifonics stuff, consistently take up 30% too much space, for thier overrated power.

If you can't fathom why something would be such a bargain, all over the internet, it's probably not a bargain.

well i lost my deal on my 500/1 so now i'm looking, we kinda high jacked that other guys thread but i have 4 RE 8's going back there, i dunno if out firing or downfiring would be best

JL all the way. I'm sure the newer HiFonics stuff is crap but I used to have a few of the older amps (Series 7 or 8 I think) and it was pretty good for the time.

hifonics makes two different lines of amps one is a best buy ciruit city type and then they have their serious amps , that i know of jl does not do this , if you compared hifonics quality amps to jls the prices are about the same

yes, i forgot about the never seen line of premier amps.

when i think Hifonics, i think crap. JL does make an entry level line of amps that are okay, but they are not overrated, and that says alot about the company that makes them.

the warrior and titan series are the cheapo's from there it depends on how serious you want your system to be. the Zeus series is a good entry level competition amp , the brutus class d amps are better , and the collosus holds a whole bunch of world records. Any of the three would do you a fine job

Don't do it, I had a customer who recently brought me a brand new Brutus 1500 amp and another large 4 channel Hifonics amp. I installed his whole system and the Brutus amp was in protection when it powered up without the subs even hooked up. He had to send it back, got another brand new amp. He said it sounded great for 1 week and then it smoked. I have been discussing your system with you through the pms. I just noticed this thread and figured I would reply. ehhhh its a little late... but maybe i could resell it for the right price.... i've had VERY good luck and all my friends have had the same with hifonics, i wasnt scared to buy it.
