I am looking at getting a new mp3/cd HU for my car and have been reading up on the the JVC stuff, especially the arsenal line. Price is a factor as I have never spent to much on my audio stuff and don't want to start now. I have almost decided on the KD-AR860 (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-hWtayPRXGSs/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=62700&I=257KDAR860) because of its motorized face, graphics (pict), and appearance. But the KD-DV5100 (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-hWtayPRXGSs/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=62700&I=257KDDV510) is tempting with its dvd capability.
Anyone have any opinions on JVC decks?

audiophile and JVC don't belong in the same sentence, but they are OK.
i'd buy Eclipse, Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer all in front of JVC (In that order, and i'd probably never buy the last two) before JVC.

That's a nice looking head unit. i've always been a fan of the Poineer DEH-P series with their animated displays. 50x4 amp, and 4v preouts. The equalizer lets you fine tune it to make any music sound perfect. With the right speakers, this H/U will not let you down.

LOL, I used that term for lack of a better title for the folks I was looking for opinions from.
I have always used pioneer and kenwood, but I just don't like the looks and price of there new decks for the options available.

Yeah, I've looked at the pioneers I just don't care for the appearance of their new deck. Truth be told I'm not fond of the looks of many new HU's or the rotary knob faces.

Ah, I see the thread was moved. Thanks. Shows how much I use this forum.

I know you're not a pioneer salesman, otherwise, you'd be aware of the ultra high impedance pre-amp which does little for signal strength, and that there is no way in hell that ANY mass produced car stereo head unit that draws less than 20a of current makes 50x 4.

audiophile and using internal amp don't go in the same sentence :p , personally i would run a jvc over a kenwood but thats just me after owning both. Alpine or Eclipse for a good headunit at a decent price.

alot of the ones ive installed for customers always end up coming back if they're the ones who blast their music really loud and our salesguys didnt really qualify the customer the first time. i thought i read somewhere the amps inside the gayVC decks are like the size of a penny or smaller.
i'd try to stay away from them if you're going to be adding additional amps and such, but thats just my opinion.
