how much do they go for? I need something for this 1200 watt amp
If they still have any of the vortex pro series left they will be bout $95ea 600 watt
or if not you would have to get the big bang for $120 each
either one would be good and I wouldnt worry about the wattage rating much that dont really mean alot if you are dealing with quality equipment.
I am running about 800 per channel to some JL10W6
i guess i need to go to traders village then :D

everything listed in this thread besides JL audio is CRAP.
FUCK planet audio, i've used plenty, and the new stuff is junk(not that the older stuff was outstanding, but it was better)
so you need a pair of subs to hold 1200 watts for 260$, what amplifier is it?

it's not the best, but it's light years better than anything else mentioned so far, depending on the model.

the L7 subs handle alot of power, and Can give you a ton of output, however they require alot of power and/or a large volume ported box. (basically, they have horrible frequency response, and there's not much you can do about it)
will those L7's only fit in a box with square holes? or can it be a regulra box?
Z06killinSBF

square. I just got a 10 and am about to build a box to fit my Mustang. Cant wait...

I use a Pioneer 12" (Silver face that looks like diamond plating used on truck tool boxes.) in a band pass box with a punch 55, and for one speaker it hits plenty hard.

I'm willing to bet that you have ZERO idea what goes on into building an SQ car.
You're a moron, cheap equipment isn't good for the money, IT'S CHEAP. If you want good deals, find Closeout on last years stuff, like a couple years back, you could have gone into car toys and walked out with a Pheonix Gold 1200.1 Tantrum for 400$, that's a good deal... Buying a Soundstrom 1,000,000W amplifier isn't a good deal, no matter what you pay, because it's junk.

What do you want for your old subs?? I havs 2 10 kickers in my truck and they sound great.
Traders Village car audio is the best! Those guys can whip up a box with 2 15s and some horn tweeters, a plexiglass wall and some neon lights for under $100! I always trust people that don't speak English to sell me quality parts for a good price.

I like going in and seeing my old stuff for sale. It has happened to me before, not kidding.
<-- bets the 1200W amp referenced above is maybe 200W RMS (if that) @ 14.4V, 1khz. :)
The 2005 Type R Alpine, JL Audio W3v2, and JL Audio W1v2 in that order would be my choice for around $199. W1v2 are a little less.
A good amp and custom enclosure are a must. JL's enclosures are excellent and inexpensive.

I had infinity Perfect 10's and they sounded good but I ended up smoking one, so I switched them out for some cheap panasonics someone gave me...and they sound DAMN good, and have lasted the longest....go figure

The build quality is excellent and they sound great. If depth is not a factor, I'd take them over a W3v2. They are really deep compared to a W3v2.

I do not claim to be an audio guru but i had a jl10 in my truck that gave me no trouble and sounded good , it was stolen and due to budgetary constraints i replaced it with a diamond audio 10 intending to use it as a get by until i could get another jl. I have been extremely impressed with it and it is in the same type pro box with the same amp pushing it as was on my jl and the diamond audio ten i have blows my old jl away. Not flaming jl by any means never would have purposely gotten rid of the one i had, but if you find a good deal on some diamond audios they sound good

there are many many great products, especially subs, i can think of about 20 brands that make something that i think is an awesome product.
For the most part, I like particular models in a line, and i'll promote that model, not the entire line.
Diamond makes some very nice stuff, as does JL, but it's not a fair comparison to judge a 10w0 versus something more middle of the road from diamond, (i'm not saying that's what you did, but i see that alot)
i guess ill go to the buckner bazzar and see what they sale me there.......

I agree that JL Audio is a great brand.
On a little cheaper side, my old stang has 2 10" Rockford Fosgate HE's being pushed by a little ole Pioneer Premiere 235 amp, and it still hits pretty fuckin hard. I have used RF for a long time, and have never had any problems or complaints with them. But that's just my 2cents, take it for what it's worth. lol
does anybody buy audiobahn anymore?

not people who like quality.

You should look for some M&M Godfathers, those speakers were the shit in the day! That or some old school Petras Prowlers!
A lot of people still use Audiobahn but their marketing department has pretty much insured they'll never be taken seriously in competition again. Anytime you see an authorized dealer for a product selling at a flea market or pawn shops it's a pretty good indicator that the company is out to make a buck, not a happy customer. Same deal for mass retailers, Circuit City for example (only one I can think of that sells Audiobahn). The manufacturer knows damned well their product will not be used properly and doesn't care, all they want is product moving off the shelves and money in their pockets. Circuit sells exactly 1 Alpine piece but has some decent Kicker products, as usual there are some slight exceptions to every rule.
Now take companies like JL, Memphis, Diamond, Eclipse, Dynaudio, Morel, Audison, Focal and MB Quart for example. You have to visit a specialty shop with a qualified sales staff and installers to buy these products and normally they have to be professionally installed to get the maximum warranty. Pretty much insuring you are happy with their products and if not then the dealer can usually take care of you at the store level instead of having to deal with a manufacturer. You'll deal with a specialist in car audio, not someone that normally sells refrigerators filling in.
If you want a louder radio and don't care so much about quality then head to Best Buy or Circuit City, probably should throw Car Toys in there as well (Somehow they still get some decent brands, but only carry the lower end stuff). If you want a nice system that sounds great and will last for years head to a specialist.
ThreeFingerPete

I take a slight offense to Car Toys being thrown in with other non specialty retailers, but not too much.
As unfortunate as it is, some of the most productive sales people that I work with have ZERO idea what they're selling people, and WHY they should sell the products that are better for the customer.
<-- Works for Car Toys.

Nearly everyone I've ever talked to that worked there thought they knew everything ever written about car audio. Atleast you aren't one of the "if it's not JL, MTX, Alpine or JBL it's crap" guys.
I compete in USACi stuff in the 0-300 watt super stock class, by the rules if I had to buy stuff Car Toys sells I'd be stuck with a JL 250/1 or the JBL GTO series. Both are fine amplifiers but can't even come close to touching either Kicker XS amp, anything from American Bass, Clif Designs, MMATS, old school Orion red series and tons of other brands most of the sellers have never heard of. Yet I guarantee you I could walk into Car Toys and tell the seller what I needed and he'd push those amps and trash the competition.

I was off yesterday, but yes, i'm in sales for now.
Yeah, BP, trust me, I know how very little the major mainstream guys do for 'power class competitors'. Honestly, I hate some of the product that we sell, but you can't carry every line. We are supposed to pick up audison later this year, so that should be a nice lineup, but we'll see.
So whats up with you guys and Eclipse? You used to have all their stuff but now only show one head unit.
Audison makes some REALLY nice equipment. I'd probably screw a fat, stinky and ugly chick for one of their Thesis amps:) I know in the past it's been really difficult getting repairs from them, seems pretty common with anything Italian though. They've been pushing pretty hard for American business now so I'm sure their are some parts state side now. I guarantee you if they offered a 2x100 watt amp I'd have one.

We sell almost the full line in store, cd5405.5415.5425.5435.8445 all in stock, (I still have a few 2004 models in stock, which I much prefer)
Audison should fill the gap that Xtant never did for the company, we will see in a while, i'm sure.
