anyone know of similar product that comes empty? I already have drives and would like to have external case to house them and atttach via network/1394/etc.....

Just use an old PC with a lot of storage bays. Install linux and run it as a samba file server. Stripe the set for redundancy and you're good to go.

Thats what I did, but I built a 2.5Ghz celery with 512mb of ram to do it. Two more drives to a terrabyte! 785G right now, with 200GB free.
