I'm a novice when it comes to wireless internet, so I'm having some trouble setting this up. I'm trying to utilize MAC filtering and still have access with XBL. Anyone have any ideas? I'd like to maintain a similar level of security, although it doesn't have to be with MAC filtering.

not really sure what your asking? I use xb live all the time behind my wireless router with a wireless bridge. Both are set up with wep encrypt.. If your using DHCP, my experence is that the xbox (usually) uses the same IP every time it trys to get an IP address. What kinda other security or concerns are you looking at?

Well, my question has changed now. How the fuck do I get this shit to work? lol
Right now, I'm running no security on the router whatsoever. I have the D-Link DGLsomething something xbox wireless adapter. It always tells me that there is no network found. Whether I'm trying to set it up using WEP, or MAC filtering.
:edit - i figured it out. Thanks for the response 281R. :)

Ok, are you using a Wireless NIC for your XBox?
There should be a MAC address on the NIC, just add it to your MAC filter.
If you are using the lan port, the MAC address is in the Network Settings menu on the XBox control panel.
If you are using a Wireless Bridge, you need the MAC address off the XBox.....

this is what I bought from overstock.com
http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?page=proframe&prod_id=670592
It works very well with the Fry's Airlink wireless routers. The ones you can buy for 29.99.
I never get disconnected on live..
cant beat that price either for a wireless game adapter/bridge
