View Full Version : I get a IP address conflict error

everytime I get on I get this message at the bottom of the screen. I know it has something to do with the X-box live. Casue I know I have to reset the modem all the time on casue I get the DNS error on the x-box. Anyway to fix this?

Actually... I'm pretty sure it just means you have more than one machine on the network, trying to use the same IP address. Nothing to do with Xbox Live.

If you're using DHCP, make sure all the machines connected on the network have different IP's assigned. Also, I think Xbox uses static IP (don't think you can use DHCP unless you mod it), so it's possible it's got an IP address that's the same as another machine.

If you've manually assigned all the IP addresses to machines (ie: no DHCP/NAT/Router), go back through them and make sure all are using unique IP's.

Well I have the X-box on automatic, never have messed with that. But i will look into trying to change that.

ok Just looked at the IP address on my comp and X-box. they are different, but I still got the message again.

Oh and I'm using DHCP but my X-box isn't modded.

Is it a wireless router? You might have someone leeching off your connection. Make sure the pc and xbox are really the only two things on the network.

Yes its wireless, but I don't think any of my neighbors would be doing that.

Oh and when I disconnect the plug on the router to the PC it usually works fine with no problems.

yeah someone is definatly stealin your shit i had the same problem and i figured it out and called the cops and my neighbor got in trouble for theft of services :eek:
