Did anyone watch Two Wheel Tuesday and hear about the new rule for MotoGP in '07. They are going to 800cc because the "powers that be" said they are too fast.. Just wanted to see what you guys think.. Discuss

I caught part of that and read a few message board threads elsewhere regarding it. Alot of people are comparing it to F1 where they limited things like turbochargers.... The cars still got faster. What I'll find interesting is if bike manufacturers will start producing production street 800's and 1000's will get less development. Sort of like how 750's went away after they stopped racing them.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing... It will be interesting to see what happens to the 1000's....

Exactly. Remember when 900's where the rage because they did not allow 1000's for racing? Now look where they are. Technology will find a way to make them just as fast as the 1000's IMO.

this could be an interesting future just like the intel processor's going into apple computers. too much good technology. cant wait to see what happens next.

I don't think GP going to 800ccs will effect streetbikes much. Now if WSB or AMA instituted that rule then yeah, it would effect streetbikes.

I'm not sure how fast the new 800ccs will be on the straights compared to the 990cc maybe just as fast seeing how they, technically, should put down more usable power, carry greater corner exit speeds and rev higher.

Should be interesting to see. Too bad Vale will be gone. Maybe Pedrosa can get 'er done? :)
