Ok so my dell is pile of junk now. I had a demension 2400 had 1.25 gig of memory ati radion 9250 video card and creative audigy 2 sound card.

Now i know that nothing i have is top of the line right down to my 40 gig hd but what i would like to do is buy a motherboard and case and use the rest of my existing components till i can upgrade.

So can somebody point me in the right direction on what kind of motherboard and all i will need to make it work. Or will i just be wasting my money and should just start building a more expensive computer?

It all really depends on what you currently have and how much you want to spend. I definatly recommend anything AMD, preferably the 64bit processors as they are cheap and fast. I would also get a socket 939 because the older ones will not support dual core, hence you can get a slow cpu now and upgrade when the 4000's are cheaper, or go dual core. I prefer MSI, Gigabyte, or Asus motherboards, more so MSI but thats just me. I've built about 40 Gigabyte computers, 20 MSI, and 10 or so Intel, I liked the build quality of MSI much better than Asus or Gigabyte but Intels are usually pretty nice too, obviously you cant go AMD cpu / Intel mobo though ;p
