There's a few of us that do. Third Gear autocrosses mostly for me.
You're more than welcome to attend. I do and don't have a BMW. :)

That would be cool, guess I should make a thread and leave Tim's thread alone.

Sorry Timmy. :)

Honestly, you won't catch me within 20 miles of an SCCA event.....too few runs and too short a course and too many bullshit whiners about who's cars are class legal and not.

I really like the BMWCCA events because it is a run what you brung setup and the sissies need to stay at home. What good though is that you would fall into class Y for the v6 and might be competitive if you get the car setup well and drive smart. I have AX'd with all three major AX clubs here in Dallas and the LSCBMW ranks #1.....Equipe Rapide ranks 3rd and SCCA ranks 10th. yes, that math is right........LSCBMW or nothing else. Especially with a ford fairmont...I mean mustang!!! :D

So the BMW club is a good deal huh? On average how many runs do you get? I have been thinking about running with them as they run mostly on Saturdays. How many non BMW's usually show? How much is their entry fee?

8 runs, $35, many non BMW's. Great stuff, third gear for 1 part of the track at least. Sometimes a 1/4 mile run with a "rolling start". Good stuff.

It's actually cheaper....$25 if you are a CCA member which only costs $45 a year and you get a great BMW magazine that has great trip articles in it that my wife actually reads. Non BMW classes are x,y and z. Go here and look at the results for the last year or so and you will see car counts by class and what type of cars there are. Probably see a few familiar names too. Most times we get 8 runs each and time for fun runs after the event. All events are at Mineral wells so the courses are larger. Great bunch of guys too.

They also hold all weather events and even hosted their first night AX last year. It was a blast and they are doing it again in September I believe. I will be there for that again with my "trick" cheat that only Darren and I figured out last time!!!

Trust me, you will like running with this group.

Wow,
I will definatly have to check them out. 8 runs sounds sweet. 14 runs is a dream. Probably wont make it until July though. I am already registered for the SCCA event on June 19. My wife is only tolerant of one thrash session a month

I just checked their website and scoped the results for April. Are the times shown lap times or cumulative times. Am I really seeing 90 sec. laps, 110 sec lap times?

those are actual lap times and NOT corrected times like SCCA. Run what you brung.....if you ain't win'n, bring more!!! I only brought enough for 3rd place over all in Z last year.....but I have more this year!!! ;)

Not worth mentioning. Look into the local porshe events too. The time trials are pretty fun as you run continuous laps without stopping.

Hand the car over to me for a few days and it will feel like a track whore! and probably look like it too! :D

Track whore classification means trailered in, beat to piss, no interior or "luxuries" like padded seats, NO STREET TIRES and too much money spent on it. Not being street legal gains several "whore points"...
