are you going to stick to your schedule Zoe?

They'll close early. They always do. If track prep was up to snuff and cleanups didn't last as long as they do they'd have more racers.

I disagree that Fridays we always close early. I am only aware of one or two Friday nights this year that the track closed early (besides due to weather) and that was because there were no cars coming in and no cars going down the track. On the flip side, there have been at least two Fridays that the track stayed open later than we said we were going to because the track was crowded.
On Saturdays we don't usually advertise a closing time because we close when the racing gets done. We are now starting later on Saturdays so that we will stay open later.
I agree that Sundays we often close earlier than advertised. That is strictly a function of car count and probably means that Sundays will be discontinued in the near future.
Regarding prep and cleanups: I have not heard many complaints this year about track prep - in fact most of what I hear is good. Also, cleanups have been faster than last year as well. So, if you haven't been to Denton in a while, you should probably try it again.

I've heard several racers complain that Midnight Madness was a farce because they paid to get in at 11 and the track was closing just after midnight with people in the staging lanes. I think the damage is already done for your track...

those are just a couple of them. Zoe, i know you do not not have a lot of control over what goes on there. but, you can not expect a good car count till the track get better. i live 10 minutes away, and find it hard to go out there just leave cause the track sucks, or cause it is 1:30 in the AM and the finals have yet to run because of the down time. i know you can control when somebody blows up, but i have seen it take 1.5 hours to clean the track, when it takes other tracks a half hour to clean up. i just hope that the rep. of the track can be repaired and end this season on a good note.

I read the two threads. The first one is about a Sunday. I can see why people get pissed off. Unfortunately, when we have only 10 cars, we just have to make sure the people that are there get some runs in and then shut down. (Ambulance alone costs $70 per hour, so in order to just pay for that, I have to have 5 racers come in every hour and that doesn't even cover VHT, insurance and labor.) Like I said, Sundays are probably going to go away.
This year, the down time has not what it has been in the past. I am aware that the rep of the track is that we can't run a race, can't prep the track, only care about big money racers, etc. I felt that we were fixing those things during the last half of last year and the first several months of this year. I'm really hoping that we can continue with that progress.

As I said in my prior post, there have been two times when we closed early (and that was because there were hardly any cars and we tried to make sure that the cars that were there got runs in) and two times that we stayed open late. I have also been in and around the tower when people have made complaints for whatever reason and we gave them free passes to get in again. It is not our goal to run off racers, especially you street guys.

I went out on a Friday a few weeks ago for my first time to Denton with a few buddies. We didn't run our cars cause they were all "ailing" but the racing was fine. We left a little before 2 and there were still cars going down the track. They had one cleanup that night, and it was about 20-25 minutes and racing again. We'll be going back in the future. Our only gripe would've been that after 10:30, there were so many kids running mom's Buick down the track, which is fine for them, but not exactly the racing we want to see or participate in. Hey, everyone has a right to be there though.

As I said in my prior post, there have been two times when we closed early Well then I guess you PO'd the wrong people on those nights. ;) :D Because from the threads I've seen on here, it really upset some people, some to the point where they refuse to go back. Maybe you could give vouchers to anyone you kick out "early" to come back again for half price?
Just trying to help. I understand your predicament 100%, it is not easy to run a track to everyone's satisfaction. I'm sure we all appreciate having the "up north" option. :)

I understand about the cost of running the place, but it goes both ways. if everytime i go out there it a is a ClusterF, then why would i want to try it again. yall are going to have to give people a reason to come out there.

I was there tonight and the facilities are definitely improving. They have added new stands since i've been there and have built bathroom facilities. These are badly needed additions to the facilities and it just makes denton a much better facility for both the racers and the fans.
I did observe in the stands that two sections of flooring stick up over an inch in the walkway near the top toward the tower end; that's a lawsuit just waiting to happen when someone trips and falls head first down the stands. And the restroom could have used some cleaning :)

I was out there Saturday night for KOTH. The track was slippery (cars were 2+ tenths off their normal times - most went up in smoke)
the first round wasn't run until midnight, cleanup was slow, etc. etc.
Seems like the same old place + bleachers.

I was being sarcastic. I too like Sneaky live only about 15-20 minutes from Denton and never go there. Instead, I drive 50 miles each way to K-dale because I like the way they conduct their business. Sure would be nice to have a track that close to race at but I refuse to go there as well. Maybe they will build another track around the motorplex soon , then I can just drive my car there.
