Anyone want to give some advice redarding stalls? Whats best for a stock Vette and 3.15 gears, that will probably only see a cam/exhaust and eventually a small shot. I was thinking of a 2,800-3,200, what's best for over all driveability, and who makes the best converter for less loss of RW vs leaving the hardest, and gas mileage obtainability...???
I know Mike, Chris, and a few others will help a brotha out, I am still new to the Chevy crowd and needing some advice. :(
Yank or Precision make nice ones, around $900 though for either. Regarding stall speed, it depends on what you are comfortable with and what kind of mods you have. A lockup really helps drivability out and eliminates the rwhp loss problem.

You'll want bigger as soon as you install it.

For those rpm stalls you can get one from Phoenix transmissions for about 650.00 and be a great converter. I think the reag gear should be a little lower like 3.42/3.73 imo. With OD and lockup you can go more gear.

Ditto on that. I would go with at least a 4000. I drive mine all the time with a 4400 and can't tell it is in there. Finding someone that makes one is your job..lol.

I was told from a few people that 3.15s would be fine with a stall... it runs low 1.9 60s now with the stock 1700ish stall, so a jump to 3K or so would get it into the 1.7 range I would think...
What RPM stall do you recommend Mike if the 3K is going to be too low? :( I was told Vettes liked less stall cause they were squirly and lighter...

I originally stated to go with a 3800-4000 stall with that gearing...Just make sure it will hit the tires with at least a 2.5 or greater STR...There is only 2 companies that can truly measure that and its PI and YANK.
A Light car doesnt need alot of gear because the LS1 does make such good usable power. 3.15's would be pimp with a TP4000 from Yank. From a roll with a small shot of gas 150 or less that car will FLY on the highway. I dont know if you remember or not but when i would race Freak Z and JS12 on the highway from some 40 punches my car would get out 3 cars on them guys before they knew what hit them...TP series converters are hard to beat from a dig with traction and from a 50 or less highway punch. The midrange on these converters is awesome! Finding out if Yank will build you one for the vette might be a little harder. Nothing less then a 3800 though for sure. Please stay away from the SS series he makes. The midrange can not be beat from the TP series.
Because a car itself is light really isnt too important when chosing a converter for an LSX motor...They like higher then normal stalls and they also dont need alot of gearing. I had a 2.7 str with my 3.23 gears and 60'd the same as JC's car did with 4.11's and a 4200 stall. Its all about chosing the right stator and STR for the application. His car ran more RPM on the highway...Mine cruised like stocker and got some badass mileage too. Something like 23-25 on the highway. before my latest fuel system upgrade i was getting that w/o OD with me T400 as well.

Personally I would bet on a 3.42 gear change sine 1st in the 4l65E is I believe 3.06 and a 3200-3500 stall. and my friend Scott at Phoenix can build it for you specifically.
But if you do cams you will probably want more stall. So decide once do it once.

Good point, cam though, its not a mod motor... ;)

4K will be good now and good later with a cam....Just be lots better then swapping from a 3200 because it was tight like a virgin.

Yup, every LS1 I have seen LOVES 4000+ stalls and after riding in a car with a yank 4400 I can honestly say it was very streetable even though I would have never thought so.
