I was thinking about taking a ride back to texas on my bike, just wondering if anyone has taken a long trip on their bike, and how painful is it, Coming from Florida on a 05 gsx-r 600.
Your ass will prolly be numb as hell and your arms will get sore after a while.

You will be sore as hell and you probably will blow through a set of tires if you are running a set of race compounds.
I wouldnt want to do it.

well...it will suck from a riding standpoint. the pain factor has to do with what kind of shape you are in. take some tylenol. pop a few every couple hours. being leaned forward on the bike isn't that bad. to me, the suck part would be riding that long in a straight line on various interstates. stop frequently and take stretch breaks. i have ridden 500 miles a pop on my rocket. not too great, but i survived. just do it...

ScottJ and I rode, on our sport bikes to galveston and back.
He was on his old R6, and I was on, (i miss my bike), 97 GSXR 750...
You learn to get creative on long rides, like standing up on the pegs, sitting on the tank, and putting your legs back on the passenger pegs. Standing up for a while, gets the blood flowing to your feet and its cool to hand your head over the front of the bike for a while.
Makes you feel like your a hood ornament on a freight train or somethin man! :D

or even just letting your legs hang off the side of the bike on long straights. granted you have the clearance...

Hell even just hitting up a rest stop or gas station for a few minutes once an hour makes a difference.

we did that as well on the way down. On the way back, it was raining like crazy, and cold cold cold...
I remember going about 100 to 120 trying to get out of the wet as fast as possible. All i can say is, once you ride your bike for that long you get used to the way it feels and everything was cool.

Beat me to the comment :) I think mixing up the seating positions like every so often helped. I like sitting on the tank but even that gets tiring. Hell I get lazy just goign to work and sit highchair sometimes :)

A friend of mine is comming to Texas from fl. this weekend I think. If he is, I'll hook you up with him. He is moving. so his bike will be loaded. But I'm sure he won't mind looking out for a fellow rider.
