Been exercizing 4 + times a week(1 to 1.5 hrs each time) and dieting for 2 months and have only lost 6 lbs. Is there something that is SAFE and ACTUALLY WORKS to speed up my metabolism? Before you answer, a few qualifying remarks.
A. I'm 42
B. I need to loose 80 lbs.
C. I have high blood pressure.
So I can't take something that will raise my blood pressure like ephedra, Mau Haung, etc. Yes I've tried Atkins, and lost 40 lbs. But that's really a "fad" diet, you cannot live like that forever, and when you stop Atkins the weight come back FAST and with a vengence.
I pissed, when I was in my 20's, I would have dropped 20lbs from the effort I've expended so far.

Supplements are not the answer for weight loss.
Keep doing what you are doing and try to figure out your calorie needs and get that near a 500 calorie deficit each day.
How much muscle have you put on? It may be offsetting your weight loss in your eyes. Get a good bodyfat measurement done and track that, not the scale.
PM me if you need more help with this. I'm out of the industry now, but I am still willing to help people.

yup, HGH or test supplementation...
if you want your body to act like it's young again, you gotta feed it the hormones it used to have! :(

I do feel better, and I have gained strenth, but at 42 it's unlikely I'm going accumulate muscle mass as fast as I could loose fat. My BP and pulse have both dropped, so I know my body is responding to the exercize.

If you are weight training it is very likely. Small amounts of muscle can easily outweigh the small amount of fat that you are losing if any.
Most of my clients were over the age of 40 and I never encountered one that couldn't put on muscle at a rate that didn't equal their fat loss weight. At the same time, most would lose considerable body fat percentages in a 6-week time period. The scale will respond after the BF calipers do.

Encouraging words! But at 5'11" and 265, I'd look like bodybuilder to carry that amount of weight in muscle.
I'd like to weight 180 again, but even 200 would be great. I suppose I will have to tighten down on the diet more :(

LOL, the muscle gain does not keep going and going. It usually is most dramatic when someone first starts hitting the weights again or for the first time. In other words, you will put on some muscle at first that may overshadow your fat loss, but eventually the pounds will come off as the muscle gain levels off and you continue with the 500 calorie deficit. Make sense?

I don't have much time to do it on the side. I work 60+ hours a week at a dealership so training is not really an option. I barely have time to workout myself.
I would be glad to help you with any ?'s that you may come across though. I enjoyed training my clients but got tired of the monotony.

monotony
n 1: the quality of wearisome constancy and lack of variety

As a fellow 42 year old I can tell you a few things I have had to accept. Sugar, fried food, cheese, etc... are all out. No fatty meats and even then I rarely have red meat and chicken is in moderation. I only watch calories, fat, and sugar and now I finally have started slowly dropping weight. I never gained that much to start with but my normal 180 had hit 205 and I had to do something. Keep the calories at a level you body can use and make sure you get those calories from a good source.
For what it's worth a friend (same age) hit 240 and started South Beach just over two months ago. The change is shocking and he is damn close to 200.

Try CLA its not a stimulant. Just try to to find the 1500mg opposed to the 1000mg.

Bad89 knows what he is talking about. Cardio exercise coupled with weight training and a good diet is the best and safest way to loose fat. And just because you may not be loosing weight does not mean you are not loosing the fat. You may have only lost 6 pounds but if you gained 6 pounds of muscle at the sametime you really lost 12 pounds that you needed to.

My current workout is 2/3 cardio and 1/3 weight training. But I need to tighten up on the diet more. It used to be so easy.....not any more!!

I did alright with the adkins thing. Don't know what you mean about gaining it back fast. Took me 4 months to lose 40 lbs. Taking me 3 years to gain half of it back. Thats a pretty good loss to gain ratio. ;)

Man the minute I went off Atkins, I gained weight like crazy. Even my father-in-law, who swears by it, gained 12 lbs the week he off the diet.
Ultimately I just can't live without fruit & breads. The first time I was on Atkins the lack of fibre gave me terrible constipation. My cholesterol went up to 224(now it's 189).
I'm only 30 and I hit the gym 5-7 times a week. I still struggle to lose just 10lbs.
