i have an idea but i was wondering what you guys do to keep your bikes from getting walked off with.
i found this 1/2" steel plate with a 1" think ring welded to it up at the tractor supply store since i had had no luck with lowes home depot and C&S
anyway this thing looks like you could bolt it to a semi truck and lift it up by this hook.
so im thinking i bolt this to the concrete and using some of this 1/2" steel cable thats nylon coated and a big hardened steel masterlock
i know its over kill but i fucking hate theaves, and i did buy the most stolen bike model soo it seems good enough for me

It's a small chore compared to missing your bike, you won't fully understand till you walk outside and two cops are looking at a huge manhole cut into your garage.
Mine is now anchored into the garage and I won't leave unless one of my vehicles is blocking it in! It's a HUGE pain in the ass but I don't slack on it anymore.......you do what you have to do to keep your shit safe and home.
whatever you do make sure your not followed home and don't ever forget to lock it down, cause it will happen when you least expect it, TRUST ME!

Funny you should ask this question... Here is what I did since I live in an apartment and can't roll the bike up 3 flights of stairs to park it in the living room like most people can......
I went to Home Depot and bought a 5/8 anchor. You drill a hole in the concreet then put this "Drop in" anchor in the hole. when you screw the I-bolt into this anchor it spreads the bottom out and permently anchors this piece into the ground. The I-bolt can be taken out at anytime so you have to get you some goo lock tite.. and use a "lock nut" on the I bolt. tighten it down like hell.. I tried yanking on it with everything I had to see if it would come out.. it wouldn't.
Now yes I know someone could unscrew the I-bolt.. but they are going to have a hell of a time doing it with cable runing thru the rear wheel and frame. The I-bolt is about 10 turns in if not more.. my cable is long enough for it to MAYBE go one turn...
I have this mounted up close to the curb on the parking lot.. and I put the bike right up against the curb.. then I pull my car RIGHT up on it so if they are going to take it they have to move the car too. AND THEN... I put the cover over the top of it and lock the bottom cover together so they can't see the bike to tell what it is and if they do want to take it they also have to figure out how to get the cover off....
Yes this is over kill for sure BUT.. I have already had 2 bikes stolen.. I WILL not have this one stolen with out them having to work for it.. and this all gives me time to put a shot or two in someones ass while they are working on it.....
SOOO.. if NOTHING else.. do it just to slow them down enough to give you time to shoot or beat them...
THE END :D

it is a damn shame that we live in a day and age where we have to think like this. all of the ideas stated above are good ones. it makes me glad i do not live in dfw. seriously. i live in an area where i leave my bike in an open carport, not a garage mind you. hell, i even leave the key in it sometimes. good luck hanging onto your shit, gents...

Just don't post where that is, cause some of the dickheads around here will drive out there if they like what ya have under your carport. I can't wait till I get a house, hopefully that will be within the next couple of months!

ok so i went and bought all the crap i was talking about. the anchor itself weights about 20lbs then it will be bolted and anchored into the cement in the garage. then to tie the bike to that ive got a 7' long 1/2" steel braded line thats nylon coated and a hardened steel lock.
if they cant get my bike off this crap they can have it.
and yes i did drink the coke before i took the pic i couldnt help myself i was thirsty :p

im going to use the drop in anchors, and hopfuly like i said erlier if they want this bike they will need a semi truck to rip it out of the ground. i dont know if you can read the label in that pic but it says it will support 42,000lbs so the contrete is gona be the weak link here

Dei and other companies make tracking devices that could be installed that you can track online. Lojack is also another option but the lojack trackers are only equipped in some police cars and I would rather catch them myself.

Get you a 2 way paging alarm with a mercury tilt sensor. That way if someone messes with it, you can go beat there ass. Also instead of starter disable, you need to disable the fuel pump. That way if they try and push start it they are s.o.l.
I just installed one on my friends R1 the other day and he loves it.

That is the best thing to do. I saw this set up in the Yamaha shop for $300.
It pages you if some one is messing around with your bike.
