well i think that about ruins my morning
I got to work and was pulling off my helmet and it kind of popped off my head hard, and slipped from my gloves
unfornately i wasn't holding the strap when i did this and woof right off my head like four or five feet away from me it even caught the wind up in the air before it hit the cement.
kind of feel like a dumbass now, so hopefully one of you guys won't pull this shit on a nice new lid
looks like shit now on one spot, even a little 1/4" crack
these rf1000 helmets are so fuckin thin, and light
RIP duhamel helmet. :(

the only good news - strange eng. said they can redrill both my axles for 100 dollars, including chromoly studs.

does Arai make an aerodynamic helmet with decent airflow?
the main features I liked about the rf1000

light - not sure how much will bother me, ill try riding around with my heavy cheap helmet for an hour or so later.
excellent airflow- so much it can even dry my eyes going like 80 and you can feel the air going through the helmet, haven't really sweated yet even
aerodynamic - super stable at speed, good since I don't run a windscreen or anything.

nobody,, even Shoei, makes a better quality helmet than Arai.

I have Shoe's and Arai's and never wear the Shoei's except in the winter.

Arai's are cooler and fit better. I have wrecked three Arai's and no head damage. ;)

I dont have any problems with air flow on my Arai keeps me pretty cool....

Damn...that sux...if it were to roll once it hit the ground...there is a good chance it didn't hurt anything. But it sounds like it hit the "crown" of the helmet...if that is the case, sorry bro :(

If it just chipped away some of the paint, that is very good. Damage to the aesthetics may actually indicate that the energy was not absorbed within the membrane.

shoei will check it out for you, free of charge.

i went down at 120 in my vega helmet. the paint was scratched bad all the way around. surprisingly though, not even a hairline crack to be found. still bought a new one anyways. who wants an ugly helmet :)

comparing helments is conditional, everyone will have their opinions on fit between brands, I love shoei and arai.

btw, what size is your head/cracked helmet? I might be willing to take it off your hands for a parking lot helmet unless you were going to keep it as a book end or something.

A helmet doesn't have to be cracked to be ruined. The foam inside gets crushed and won't protect you in a wreck.

well i looked at it pretty closely , and it doesn't seem too bad from a safety standpoint.
Looks like shit though, but usable.
I'll definately have to think about sending it shoei to inspect it.

send it in , don't risk it. just because it LOOKS okay, doesn't mean ANYTHING.
