View Full Version : Stop Box from Sliding??

Hey all,
Right now I have a goofy Q-logic enclosure for my 10" sub. However, I am going to make a custom one soon enough. Either way, I've always had a problem with my boxes sliding around in the trunk.
I am interested to hear people's ideas of how to stop this. I've though about creating a corral of sorts with trim like wood. However, I'd like the box to stay put - if possible without drilling into the box or trunk. I'll do it, and use L brackets if I have to. I also thought of velcro, but I assumed that it would just drag the carpet around when the box went sliding. I was hoping someone else had a more creative way.
Thank you,

I read somewhere that you can use velcro strips glued to the bottom of your goofy box. The "hook" side of the velcro should grab the "pile" carpet in the trunk. I haven't done this but sounds to be true. Worth a try huh...

Yeah, better then nothing...just assumed the carpet would move with the box though. Guess I could glue the carpet at specific points to negate it a little. Keep it so the spare is still available though.
What unit you with at Fort Hood?

Forgot to add.... you can staple the velcro hook to your box... That sounds like it'll work better.

Congrats on returning safely and the award. Well earned I am sure. Is the 507th independent of 4ID and 1CAV?
Thanks for the ideas.

I use a cheap floor mat from Vatozone...it is a cheap rubber at and I cut it to match the bottom.

This works great.. I have a smooth box (not carpeted, looks like rhinocoat) and I stuck on some velcro last year. It hasn't moved since, even when cornering very hard.
Buy the kind with 3M adhesive on the back..

I put one screw through the middle.

hehehe, yeah, I think I am going to do a slight mixture of all the ideas. I like the mat idea, mound the box to the mat and maybe even use velcro to hold the mat to the carpet. :)
I appreciate the input everyone. I was drawing blanks and ya'll really helped.
Take care,
