When using whey protein is it posible to gain fat? Ive been getting heavier in the stomach area, i only work out my upper body, and i dont run. Ive been using whey protein for 4 months now, and my muscles have gotten bigger, but i also got a little fatter. Thanks. :)

why do you only work your upper body? you are just wasting your time in the gym and you'll end up looking like an ostrich. you should hit your legs and do some cardio.

you are probably taking whey protein that is high in fat and carbs I am guessing? what brand are you taking? make sure it isn't the cheap sugary crap.

I recommend Optimun Nutrition. You can get a 10lb bag for $50 and it's the best shit out there.

I bet if you do 8-10 minutes of cardio before your workout and 5 minutes of abs after every other workout, then your mid-section will improve.

good luck.

Just look on the container and see how many carbs and how much sugar it has,and about working your lower body you need to do legs you build a lot of hormones when you do leg workouts wich intern means bigger muscle all around

This post is funny because about 70% of the people at my gym only work out arms and chest. Just about the most aggravating thing to watch. I work out four days a week and see the same people in the same section of the gym every time.

I especially like the teens that spend more time looking in the mirror than they actually work out. Or the ones that find it necessary to scream every rep, their classic.

I started taking whey protein as well, and I have gotten a lil something around my stomach...I do cardio at least 2 times a week(soccer). I guess I just gotta do some abs.

When in the best time to take whey protein? Before workout, 15 min after workout? Thanks for any help...

To Grow properly and speadily You need a protien and a carb after workout but i also take a protien shake before a workout along with my creatine and hydroxy cut, but thats the only time i eat a carb base sup or meal is after workout ,anymore than that gives me a gut exactly why im on the hydroxy cut now......you should take in your body weight in protien a day...........and at least 30mins a cardio 3-4 times a week is good aswell

i actually love people like that in the gym. they give me something to laugh at.

Big ego's = small gains in the gym.

This actually happened yesterday when I was working my traps, but the dude ended up being pretty cool and asked for some good advice instead of acting like he knew what he was doing. so some people in the gym just don't know any better. gotta start somewhere i guess. :)

Don't drop the whey protein, it's a good and relatively low-fat source of calories. It's not the protein powder that's making you gain weight, it's all the other crap you are putting in your mouth. Take a look at your diet over-all and see where you need to tweak it. Count your calories and try to stay away from sugar and saturated fat.
