Now more people can go to the bars, get drunk, and drive home because they can't watch the game at home. Bad move on their part.

Yea, because basic cable is just sooooooooooooooooooo expensive.
That, and they are showing the game on regular TV in the home markets of the teams involved...........
Blaming the NFL for someone's choice?
Come on, now.......

Doesn't really effect much. Studies shown that 85% of people have either cable or satellite service in their home.

How are they gonna go to the bar and get drunk when they can't even afford cable?

The latest numbers are actually slightly under 50%.....at least that's my understanding.

That's not what my numbers at work show, nor what The Ticket referenced as well.
What are you looking at?
A quick search on the 'net shows the lowest figure that I've seen, at 65%. It really depends on who you ask.
It IS much more than 50% though.
I am in the industry to know.
From the link above:
"About 85 percent of American households pay for either satellite or cable. That means 15 percent of people have “rabbit ears” or no television at all. It’s also happening in condominium complexes, which could be a potentially good thing for homeowners. Bulk deals can save owners a great deal of money. But if you're a renter, you must read your lease!"

I stand corrected:
The numbers I found online were around the 68.8-70% area, with a 1.1 million viewer loss between 11/04 and 11/05.
In any case, this is not going to cost the NFL viewership.

Any sports/football fan is going to have ESPN anyway. This doesn't hurt them in the least bit. People who don't have cable or satellite usually don't care for TV, are religious, or frankly do not care.
