View Full Version : squats or deadlifts or both?

I normally do both Deadlifts and Squats each leg day but I was wondering if it was a bad idea to do both the same day or not. Or better to alternate every other week for each one.

What is the gerenal consensus?

Both on the same day will kick your ass real good like.

After a while if you seperate them you will notice that you pick up some max weight on both.

Personally, at the moment, I do a leg day with squats and extensions and all that shit, then a back and DL day where I do some nice medium weight DLs (340 or so) and then some straight legged DLs (working up to 250 or so). It seems to work OK. If you want to develop a really good solid deadlift, concentrate on your form above all else and don't use a belt until you feel like you get heavy enough that you are going to kill yourself.

I'm just slowly going up in weight, no hurry, just trying to get back up to that 500 lb. DL I once had.
