I think Avery Johnson is doing a helluva job with the Mavs.

I've been watching the Mavs since the early 90's and this is the best team we've had.

Go Mavs!

Avery is doing much better with the team than Nellie was, they seem to be more comfortable with Avery, probally because he was a team mate to most of the players on the team

What happened to all of those people that were talking shit about Avery? I was excited to hear he was taking over and I remember a bunch of people saying "Avery sucks!" I like what I see out of the Mavs so far... obviously we won't know how good of a coach avery is until the playoffs. If he can take them to the Wester Conference Finals this quickly I think he is an amazing coach that we should hang on to.

Only problem I see the them needing to work on is their rebounding. Other than that they are great and have a hell of a shot at the title this year.

they seem to be more comfortable with AveryActually, I believe it's totally the opposite. They were TOO comfortable with Nellie. They me be comfortable with him as a coach, but they're playing harder and with more passion because they don't want the man up in their grill...and he will go there a whole lot faster than Nellie did.

AJ has been running most of the practices this year even when Nellie & wife was healthy.

Nellie probably felt like the team was torn between his offensive philosophy vs. Avery's defensive style.

He knows AJ was the future so I think that was cool of him to step down.

Nellie was awesome at coaching matchups.

This road trip has really defined Avery as being "the" head coach of the Mav's. I think the early part of the season may have confused the Mav's with the different coaching styles of Nellie and AJ. Nice to see things are coming around from them and was impressed that they were able to allow Dirk to set out a game last night for rest. I'm also impressed that AJ is sitting players down if they are not performing such as Finley against Seattle the other night.

Anyone want to get together for Sunday's Laker's game?
