I love my T350 but I seem to keep breaking cases here lately. I thikn it was because the truck used to be so stiff. Somebody told me I needed a mid plate but I dont have solid motor mounts.

I am afraid that if I go to a 2 speed it will slow down. The truck was 2675 with a driver, is that light enough or do you even think that it will make it speed up?

What Are You Running Now?

No such thing as being light enough with a glide. Converter choice will be the part that matters the most. You cant be buying cheap ass converters. You'll need to spend the money for the performance you want.

I guess It depends on witch 800 dollar converter I need to run. I have a 7" 5500 stall in it now. On the shelve I have another TCI converter that is a 8" 4400 stall. Converter choice isnt the problem, I have plenty of converters to choose from.\

I am currently running the T350 with the 5500 stall.

Try the mid plate first. It will help with the problem.

Will I need to go to solid motor mounts too? I have just a stock rubber mounts now. When I say the suspension used to be stiff it really was, I put adjustable coil over shocks the replace the factory coil springs and stock shock on the front and its 10Xs better.

A converter built for a t350 will work but its really best to have the str spec'd out to a PG trans. Some work well some dont. Id talk to TCi and see what they tell....Of course they will tell it will work.....BUt you really need to find a good tech on their tech line.

With a mid plate you dont have to run the solid motor mounts....How come you dont just put the solids in there...Have you tried just solid motor mounts to fix the problem...those would be cheaper bro.

No all cars go faster with a glide ! I'd say that your truck could definately benifit from the glide providing you have a good enough converter for it. The problem is the steeper low gear will force the converter to slip more if the car a)too heavy b) not enough rear gear or c) coverter is too loose.
... as for breaking the cases of the tranny's...that is a very common problem on GM products (TH350,TH400,Glide). I'd say get a set of solid mounts and tranny mount or mid plate....

Put a glide in it,I bet it wont slow down.

are you running a good bell housing if not try that also. The little tire red truck has a glide in it and it picked up from the 350 he had in it.

The glide won't hurt but you may still have the problem braking cases. G-bodys are bad about it and the front of the S-10 frame is the same as a G-body. Most of the time solid fronts with urethane tranny mount cures it. Add a midplate to that and you should be bullet proof.

WHy on earth would you not have Solid motor mounts on it. What kind of tranny mount do you have?

Best is Solid Motor mounts and a poly tranny mount or a mid plate I still use poly tranny mounts because they do dampen some of the motor vibrations. Your breaking cases because the motor mounts flex too much you could strap the motor to the frame if you wanted to also but solid mounts or mid plate is the best route.

I use a glide at 3200-3400 lbs so that isnt and issue and 1 shift is always more consistent.

Hell I still have stock motor mounts and tranny mounts. I put the tranny back in yesterday, seems to me a metal mount would be hard on the block. I still use a a stock 509 casting block.

I will see about getting some solid mounts.

Naw Solid mounts wont hurt the block unless it already has a problem.

Cool, I have just been informed we are going to a glide after tonight. I just hope I make it through the night.

I have stock mounts with a torque strap...I also have a poly trans mount. ;)

hey orange s-10 we went from a t400 trans to a glide in our truck and picked up almost 4 tens, we also run solid motor mounts and love it, one thing get a good converter we have tryed different ones, we seem to see a tight converter worked better like a 3800 to a 4800,our truck weights 2800 with driver

Made it through the night last night, Made 8 passes on a welded housing and made a another new best. Took 2nd place in the Quick 8 class. I think I prayed to God before every pass to ask for the tranny to hold. Kinda scary knowing your shit is broke and has been welded back together.

Like I said, we are going to a glide now and we are going to put in a Mid plate at the same time. Had a lot of bad luck this week working with the truck and last night paid off considering all the shit I had to do to get ready for the races.

Oh and the new ET is a 6.33 @ 107.50. 60 ft was off a bit and the 330 was no better but we added some more fuel and she liked it. :D
