Cut out the rear seat bracing.
Cheese hole the rear speaker deck.
Call all unused bracketry out. Shed the quad shocks.
Cheese hole the bumper supports themselves or remove them completely.
Anywhere you have steel brackets in use, try to replicate them in aluminum.
Im sure ill think of more.

Really how gutted do you want it?
Or still daily driver material?
Pull the dash, put in a lil piece of aluminum for gauges, all the sound deadener, door panels, etc.

For some that is a realtive term. ;)
When I got TOMMYs old coupe, all it had in it was a drivers seat and dash.

I never intend for this car to grow into a track hoe. From mild to wild with a few adjustments and clicks+ comfortable race seats.
So - you want A/C and heat? :)

Heck yeah. It feels like:
420 Holy Crap
North Condemned, Hell 75666
in the summer time around here.

I'd be left with a go-kart
but a quick go-cart!!! :D
as for weight savings, i did all this to the SVO:
no quad shocks, no bumper supports, no swaybars, PS delete, AC delete, pulled the dash and removed all HVAC & heater core stuff, scraped all sound deadener off the floorpan, no carpet padding, no backseat, cut out most of the door/rear quarter framing, tubular suspension, lived on water for 25 days to knock 12 pounds off of me (joke)... you kinda get the idea.
pretty much, devote a saturday to removing the interior and going to town in the door/quarter panels with a sawzall, heating up and scraping the deadener, and pulling the dash to remove the HVAC stuff if you want.

Puss.
Even in the summertime I never use the AC, I can stand the heat, its not that bad as long as your moving, if you sit in traffic though, then its hot as hell. :p
You wanted to save weight, cant save weight without getting rid of the comodities, youd be suprised(im sure you already know) what all that crap weighs.

Im sure ill think of more.I wouldn't waste my time on any of the above unless you're trying to make a race car except for the quad shocks. You won't get much from it. The speaker deck is 18-20ga steel and you might get a pound if you cheese hole that.
The rear bumper is heavy but if it is a street car, I wouldn't remove it. The front one really isn't worth removing since it is fiberglass.
------------
- Remove the dog bone on top of the rear end housing.
- GT style seats weigh 42lbs (manual) and 48lbs(electric). Light weight seats will help a bunch there. My Kirkey ready to bolt in with cover weighs 23lbs.
- D&D K-member will get you 32lbs. If you do a coilover conversion with tubular A-arms it will remove 72lbs.
- Weld wheels remove about 65lbs on my car (pony rims)
- Aluminum drive shaft removes 8lbs.
- Small starter removes 6lbs.
- A/C system removes 38lbs.
- Manual rack removes 16lbs
- Scraping all of the sound deadening and insulation off of the carpet and floor will remove 52lbs on a hatchback. But.... You will hear everything outside of the car with annoying clarity.
- Cutting the door braces out of the doors will remove 22lbs. But I wouldn't do it on a street car (mine are still in).
- Converting to a single exhaust after turbo install from LX tailpipes removes 36lbs.
- Rear seat deletes aren't worth it. The rear seat in a coupe is light.
- Front sway bar weights 26lbs. I'd leave the back one on.
--------
Where you will have to add weight
--------
- Wolfe 6pt roll bar weighs 80lbs
- Bigger radiator will weigh more.
- Tranny cooler adds weight
- The difference in a T5/fly wheel/clutch and a an AOD/flex plate/converter is about 70lbs. The DOA is a P-I-G.
- My turbo system adds 56lbs to my car.
----------
My car weighs 2990 without me in it ready to race with 1/8th tank of gas.

Tubular front-in with a LS1 sitting on top. LOL! :D . My 4cyclinder coupe was pretty light. It weight 2815 without driver. And all I did was delete the AC/Heat stuff took passenger seat, deleted back seat. The Crow is light as a feather compared to my old coupe.

Are the 4cyl coupes inherently lighter than their GT counterparts? (engine weight excluded)
Plans for this year:
-Mac full exhaust (shortys,ORH,catback)
-lowering springs
-tune
-3.27s?
-3000 Street Edge converter 3.0 STR
-15x8 (too much?) Rear Draglites and 15" Nittos 15x3.5s up front.
-suspension (not sure what setup or which parts. I'm still researching)

I've got 15x6 Welds on the front of my car with some 205 tires on them. The car still stops and drives like it has the stock wheels on it. 15x8 with 5.5 back spacine are perfect for a coupe. Put some drag radials on those and you are set.

The 15x3.5s will be for track only. I'll roll the turbines (until I do a five lug conversion, next year) for daily driving.

When I had my old LX hatch it weighed 3050 w/ skinnies and aluminum heads. It had rollup windows and otherwise it was completely stock. We just weighed Josh's car (truestreet5.8) it came in at 3040 with driver. Full cage, No accessories and nothing "cut" out. It has a Windsor/Turbo/C4.
My current car in stock form with Cobra R's and NOTHING removed weighed in at less than 3100. It's been a while since I wieghed it so I don't remember exactly what it weighed. Both of my cars were weighed in on the same scale also.. They are lighter than you'd expect.

replace all the steel bolts on the car with titanium bolts, The rear bulk head can be entirely removed and replaced with aluminium to mantain a factory look, remove rear seats, sound deadner, etc.. If you would be willing to remove the ac/heater stuff, you could also loose all the excess wireing in the car and build your own harness. All that copper gets heavy. If you don't want to remove the bumpers since it will be street driven, you can replace the bumber crash bars with aluminium bars. Aluminium 5 gallon fuel cell, less gas in car ;)
