Any details? I put a little thought into this and figured it would be next to impossible for us to have a big enough "group" to get the fuel for any cheaper then we would at a pump. The only option I thought we could excersice is some deal with a gas station. Which would suck since we are spread out all over the DFW area. :)

look at it this way, if it works out and we pay exactly the same per gallon, it will still be alot less than if you buy that same gallon even a month from now.

well, if you HAVE a tanker, and you transport it and store it yourself, you save on average about 6 cents per gallon, which is a destination charge, plus, you pay a flat rate per gallon, seeing as how gas is going up it would save in that area too. you will need a way to pump the gas into the vehicles, as well as a SECURE place to store the gas. just some thoughts. i'd be in, but im broke (i know, long term it would save me a bundle), but i dont have the capital for a buy in like that. plus, im all the way in greenville so i wouldn't be saving all that much anyhow. good luck with it guys

ceyko

Gas prices won't be lowering anytime soon. The analysts I keep track of predict the price per barrel going up to 100ish. I know barrel prices don't necessarily equal gas prices per gallon, but it is pretty damned close.

It'll be a good short term expense.

Don't retract the application just yet. If the prices go down, then we purchase it at the lower price. The risk is when we already make the purchase, then the prices drop.

LOL, you guys are nuts...

its a good idea but you cant leave a tanker sittin on some street.

I have a 1K gal storage tank at my Ranch, you guys need to find a storage tank that passes code and epa requirements before you decide to buy a load from a local terminal.

1. you have no truck
2. you have no qualified legal driver
3. you do not have a retailer lisc or acct. with the local gas termials.
3. you have no place to store said fuel.
4. you do not have enough money pooled to purchase a load.

When I worked for Texaco I use to get fuel drops every day, usually about 3k gal.

It aint cheap for fuel. Most tankers hold around 5-8k gal. Do the math!!! and thats just one load. You have to buy bulk shipments to gain a good discount.

LS1 pwrd Nova
06-14-2005, 08:26 PM
Not to hate on this but it is interesting. Where is the tanker going to be stored? I hope not in a residential area or where anyone can see it to call someone on you? If you pay for 1000 gallons, who is to say you will get it all? Who is actually going to keep track of the gallons. Doesnt gas start to breakdown after some time? Are you sure they are going to let a tanker of fuel sit at some place for weeks to months? For the pennies you will save per gallon, I dont think it is worth it. Good luck and I would really like to see the outcome of this plan you have here.

Good luck tring to get any oil company to sell it to an individual. Good idea, but it will not happen. If you still want to try, here is what you do. Open an account at the NYMEX and purchase a furtures contract (make sure it is for the right gas for DFW-oxygenated). When the contract expires, you can take delievery of the gasoline. That is the only way YOU can get that much gas. They HAVE TO sell it to you because you own the contract. The other problems are worse, how to store and pump that much gas. But that is the only why to get it, unless you know someone in the business.

Oil price bubble about to burst, says business guru Forbes

SYDNEY (AFX) - Oil prices are set to crash from this week's record highs as a speculative market bubble bursts with an impact that could make the hi-tech bust of 2000 'look like a picnic', business publisher Steve Forbes has predicted.

Forbes said the high oil prices currently dampening the US economy, which peaked at more than 70 usd a barrel yesterday as Hurricane Katrina headed for the US Gulf Coast, would fall to 30-35 usd a barrel within a year.

'I'll make a bold prediction... in 12 months, you're going to see oil down to 35-40 usd a barrel,' he said, according to Agence France-Presse.

'It's a huge bubble, I don't know what's going to pop it but eventually it will pop -- you cannot go against supply and demand, you cannot go against the fundamentals forever.'

The billionaire magazine publisher's comments came as the price of crude eased following US government comments that it could release some of its Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR).

The SPR, a 700-mln-barrel stockpile set aside for emergency use, could be used to counter oil shortages caused by Hurricane Katrina's devastation of the Gulf oil industry, which accounts for about a quarter of US output.

Forbes, who unsuccessfully sought Republican nomination in the 1996 and 2000 US Presidential elections, said the US government's constant topping up of the SPR had helped drive up oil prices.

'The speculators know now that no matter what happens to the price of oil, Uncle Sam is there buying almost every day,' he said.

'Stop the buying and in fact throw some of that oil on the open market, boy that would throw it in turmoil and send the price down.'

He said factors such as inflation and increased demand for oil from China and India only accounted for a small part of the price hike from 25-30 usd a barrel three years ago.

'The rest of it is sheer bubble speculation,' Forbes said.

'I'll be blunt, there's hardly a hedge fund in North America that hasn't speculated on oil futures.'

Forbes said the higher the oil price rose, the harder it would eventually crash, creating more pain for hedge fund managers and their clients.

'I don't think it's going to go to 100 usd but if it does the crash is going to be even more spectacular,' he said. 'It will make the hi-tech bubble look like a picnic -- this thing is not going to last.'

thats cuz the new gas doesnt work well with the stock cunueter valve, there isnt enought pressure. elimanate the system like you would with a EGR system and you are good to go. obviosly this will fuck with your smog and fail inspection, but i have a guy that will pass anyone so just let me know and i will take care of you as long as i know you and you have bought fuel from me before.

Sweet...would it be possible to go refund me the difference in the price of Gatorade so I may be able to restore the volatility of the fuel? I am grateful that Pooter has enlightened me in the explosive nature of the electrolytes within a typical gallon of Gatorade...I especially like orange...
