Burning DVD's???

Have any of you burned a DVD froma an avi file? What programs do i need to use? I have DVD+r's to burn too and DVD-r's if thats what i need. Anything would help thanks.

You will need a program to convert the file to mpeg2 and then author to dvd format. TMGenc works well, winavi converter is quick but quality is so-so. A Freeware program that works great is DIKO slow tho takes 2-3+ hrs to encode. I also here Nero will convert/burn on the fly, haven't tried that yet.

I use Pinnacle Studio 9 that came with my camcorder, it works well but isn't perfect.
