Who's got the hook up at Fry's?

My DVDRW drive on my computer is broken. I bought it on 2/25/05 and have the original receipt but Fry's wont take it back unless I have the original box. Is there anyone who works there that can help me out please?

When it comes to returns, Fry's sucks. Other than that it is a great place to buy PC equipment. I always get Best Buy to price match them and just buy it from them instead. I hate driving out there to the Middle East.

frys has a great return policy on items without a serial #. just buy a new one just like yours, put your broken one in the box, take it back and tell em the shit dont work and they'll take it right back. i do it all the time and i even used to work there. ;)

This was my back up plan. I was reserving it for last because I only wanted to make one trip. I live in Sherman and the drive is horrible. Looks like this is what I'll have to do.

Thats why you do it in one trip. Go to the Plano one first and pick up what you need and then go out to eat or something and switch it out in the car.

My Radeon 9800 All-In-Wonder broke so I went to go get it at the Irvine store but they didn't have the one I needed so I had them look it up in invitory and they showed they had it at the plano store. Drove their bought it then drove back to the Irving store on the way home and returned it within an hour. Try not to rip seals if it has any and put it back in the box like it has never been opend.

I have done it several time and will continue to do it. :D

It's my own extended warranty. :p

my pentium 4 2.8 had some broken pins so i went a bought a new one, exact same type of course, went home switched em out and took the old one back and got my money back. :)

I went in there in person Saturday afternoon and spoke with a returns managager. After listening to my problem he said, "just bring it in, we'll even exchange it with no problems". Go figure! So I'm going in there as soon as I'm off work at 3. We'll see if they hold up to what he told me.

they should, they earn commission on dollars kept int he store, so when he even exchanges it it will look like you came in wanting yoru money back, but he convinced you just do an even exchange and keep you x amount of dollars spent at frys, and viola, you get new shit and he gets fat paid. (returns people there BANK)
