I know he wasnt the best pitcher of all time, but to me, there will never be anyone even close to his skills, sure he may not have control all the time, but as he so eloquently put it: "It helps if the hitter thinks you're a little crazy."
5,714 Strikeouts
7 Freaking no hitters
324 Total wins
807 Games Pitched
222 Complete Games
5386 Innings Pitched
2795 Walked Batters
7 Father/Son Strikeouts
0 Cy Young Awards
Only pitcher to strike out Roger Maris, Mark McGwire, and Sammy Sosa.

could it be that he pitched for maybe the worse team in the league?

One thing I'll say is that you'd never see any of the players today play with blood gushing out of their face like Ryan did when Jackson hit him in the face with that ball. Ryan was like "Fuck it, I have a game to pitch." He just kept getting new uniforms after he went off the field, lol!

i dont remember a whole lot about ryan cause i was young other than i think he retired in 94' right? if so that would have made me only 11 when he retired, but i do remeber i used to love watching him and Ivan play and that was why the rangers are my favorite team even if they were pretty shitty then and still not so great now

I would buy the cheapest, shittiest seats ever, cause that is all I could afford as a kid, just to watch Ryan pitch. When I played little league, and I'm not gonna lie, I pretended everyday that I was him and that I was the greatest pitcher ever.....
NICK
Nolan Ryan has always been my favorite pitcher and my second favorite ball player ever. My first fav is most definitely Ricky Henderson.

Hell yeah! I've still got the complete set of those holograph baseball cards that Whataburger put out sometime in the nineties, commemorating his 5,000th strikeout, 300th win, no-hitters, and some other notable stuff. I should whip 'em out and look at 'em one day...

And I've got some weird set as well. It has 300 cards that mark 300 moments of Ryan's career.
He also ONLY had 324 wins because of the teams he played on. If he had been on a better team in some of his year, he could have easily won 400 games IMO.

I've still got the sports section from the day he thru his 5k strikeout. I've also got my ticket stub and the special certificate they made for people that were at the game.
I was at the game cause it was on my brothers birthday. We had the tickets in advance cause he was an A's fan. I was about 10-15 rows deep on 3rd base side at the 5k strikeout game.
Something I will never forget.
