How many of you think that a Ninja 500r is a good bike for a first time user?

a guy that i work with just bought a brand new one of these. i rode it the other day. my opinion is that it is a great starter bike. you can really learn the basics without having that life-ending power in your right wrist. it is nowhere near as powerful as a 600, but still plenty powerful for cruising and learning, and just about any bike can hang in the twisties with the right driver. my advice would be to go ahead and get it, keep maintenance records on EVERYTHING you do to it, ala oil changes, tire changes, etc, as this will help you with resell, and keep it as good looking as possible. you will grow out of it fairly quickly, but it can always be sold or traded in when you are ready to move up to a 600. this has been my 2 cents...

Yes it is a great first bike.... Resale on it will be poor.....but it is a good handling plenty of power for first users....and if u ever decide to get another bike turn the 500 in to a track bike

nice, but I think an SV650 would probably be a better way to spend your money. cant really roll up to garland sonic and look serious with a ninja 500. Yea, ur in the club, but there are going to be chicks on bikes laughing at you...like this one...as seen on her first bike. :D

yea, the finance girl at north texas yamaha is gorgeous. she is 20something and rides an '04 CBR1000RR and drives a 2002 Harley F150 w/ an eaton. did i mention she is gorgeous?

little lady friend of some of the people I ride with that we convinced to buy a bike a few weeks ago. shes still not real good with it, but damn she looks good riding.

So, about the ninja... lol Yea she's cute... but no offense i think my girlfriend is more beautiful but to each his own... :) I truely dig a girl in a muscle car or bike though, thats kickass :D
