I've had great results in strength by lifting heavy. I've been doing heavy weight with low reps cause my body fat has always been low and i wanted a little more size.

As i get to heavier weight its really taking a toll on my body. I have constant pain in my wrist, elbows, and shoulders when i lift things. My mother has bad arthritis, i hope im not getting that....

Anyways, im going to try a month of light weight with reps of 20-30 and see where it gets me.
Anyone ever tried any of those joint fuel pills. Do those things really work??

try adjusting your technique. do a little bit less weight and do the exercise slower, also, wait less time between sets. you'll get the same effect of going really heavy, without all the negatives. I had the exact same problem a few years ago. I did some research and changed a few things, within weeks I had made good gains in both strength and size.

you dont have to pump out 20-30 reps. then you run the risk of overworking the muscle and overtraining. how many reps are you doing now? 4-6? If so, just bump it up to 10-12, and so on.

how many heavy exercises are you doing in a workout? Because if you are doing, say, four chest exercises in a chest day, then do two heavy exercises, and two medium weight exercises to really get that blood pumping into the muscles. Every exercise doesn't have to be heavy.

Joint pills are a waist of money. Just eat a bunch of Amino Acid pills. They are cheap and work.

Good luck homie.

I have been doing the lighter stuff for a while now. I try and stick with 3-4 sets of 12 on each exercise. It is a completely different workout. You will still have plenty of strength to lift the weight, but no energy. You will get super pumps, especially if you go slow and pause. I get more sore doing high reps than I ever did going heavy.

My rotator cuff gives me a lot of grief if I go heavy for too many weeks in a row. And you can still get bigger doing higher reps.
