Well I just got back in the house after taking my bike to a freinds house cause about 10:00 PM I got a knock on the door that the cops were out by my garage cause someone broke into it.
They apparently tried to cut a hole at the top and and pull the string but thanks to Mels thread and another freind of mine I had removed the string for this very reason, this caused them to cut a 12X12 hole in my d@mn garage, While trying to crawl through it a neighbor spotted them and chased them while calling the cops. My bike is still safe thanks to an unknown neighbor that I will try to find and thank tomorrow morning.
I don't know who did it but one thing for sure they are at a hospital right now getting stitches cause my garage has blood all over it.

BTW: Thanks for leaving the DNA samples, according to the cops there taking these crimes more serious and are now processing all evidence.

No windows, I was targeted. Nobody knows exactly where I live and it's somewhat out of the way from the normal just driving through apartments. Also there are literally 50 plus garages out here, someone knew exactly wich one it was, as nothing around me was touched. I will post pictures tomorrow of the garage door.
On another note, not sure if it's related but there was a younger dark haired looking guy on a silver and red Honda F4I crusing through my apartments yesterday, never seen him before and there are no other bikes over here.
No jacket , no gloves, No helmet.....probably a stolen bike.

Dang, that sucks. Seems like we'd better start paying attention to what we post, and pay attention to who might be behind us a few cars back trying to follow us home.

Ditto, that is f'd up. I have two huge dogs in the back, if anyone is walking by the house they bark as if they are going to tear someone's head off. It is annoying at 2 in the morning, but I would rather that and check, then not have it at all.

What's removing the string going to do? If they cut through the door, can't they simply open the door? Best thing to do is put in an alarm trip if the door is opened. If that door isn't being used (2 door models), you should lock the door from the inside and turn off the power to that door.

No, it is attached to a garage door opener. The only way to open it is to disengage it from the track via the string that you pull on. Of course this is assuming you have an automatic garage door opener.

Guess my question is why bother pulling the string to release it from the track when you can simply press the button once in the garage to open the door? Either way it seems that the noise level would be about the same.

My garage is on the backside of the complex, noise is not an issue. He obviously did not know where the button to open the door from the inside was, cause he never opened it.
He's a dumbass, I mean look at my other post....what a dipshit. But he will go down for it very soon. This could lead to more recovery's as from the looks of the equipment the cop commented that this wasn't his first Rodeo...... ;)

Good luck. I hope that they catch whoever it is. Too bad that they never do much time though.

I have already assembled a small group of "theif beaters" and they are on stand bye......lol.
I really hope they catch him cause I know it could lead to other arrest and possibly more people getting there bikes back......Thats why Im on this so hard.

Hope they do too. I remember reading in a magazine somewhere about a group in Australia I think it is that would plant bikes like cops do with cars, but when they caught someone trying to steal the bike they beat the hell out of them. Now, that would reduce theft. :)

I bought a 3/4 inch I bolt and dropped it into six inches of concrete, and I use one of those kryptonite chains, and chain it to the floor in my garage.......Maybe you should invest in a set up like that. I think mine cost me $30 for the chain, and another $15 for the lag bolt and drill bits.......

Damn, people are cutting into garage doors and opening them up once inside. Crazy! My apartment garage is detached and has a push button once inside the garage so I suppose removing the string will not work for me. Since the garage is detached all the power to control the opener is inside the garage. I cannot believe people. I will be doing the bolt, cable lock thing soon. That is just nuts.
