Since my 85 has been sitting.....for 2 years in one place....I'm thinking of buying a car that is pretty much ready to go. Something that will take a little work and I can drop my combo into.

Sometimes, you get a little crazy when looking at cars, so I want a few opinions about this car. Is this too much. It looks VERY clean.

Thanks

I'm suprised that cage is legal with the way the sidebars are done.

Yeah, is that legal? The expiration date of the cage is coming up in may. Might incur some cost to rework it (?)

Other than that the car looks great.

Where is it? We are taking a truck back to NC in a couple of weeks and coming home empty with the trailer.

I'd make sure that the bars that are there wouldn't need to be cut out to be 25.5 legal...

From what I've seen and read..

Mine is made that way..

I still think the 85 has a lot of potential and could look as good or better then this car. After all, these are only pics and Ive seen the 85 even if its all in pieces. Look at Nelsons car....How long did it take him to build the car he has now....Get my point? Patience my friend. Work on Hoss or the TA. JMO

I don't see $12k even though it is a VERY nice coupe.....I'd say maybe 10,500.

if that's what you're looking to build, then it's a bargain! you're not going to be able to start fresh and have your '85 built like that one, for $12k...

calling him nutter on here is just way un-called for, and deserves explanation for the source of the nickname for the rest of the fellow dfwstangers.

IMO for $12,000 that car is a little whored out. He may have spent $25,000 on it but that is his problem.

I totally agree. When you sell a race car without a fresh driveline, you are lucky to get 40 cents on the dollar. It is a NICE car, but the cage issue and driveline costs, you will end up spending a lot more money.

However, I will agree you won't build that car for $12,000 but that is not your problem.

It is a good looking car.The car would be great if you had driveline ready to drop in. I'd try to buy it for $7500.

The 85 has some nice work in it. Andy from Kim Smiths has worked on it, Kevin, who used to work at Wolfes did some work and Craig put a few welds on it. My only draw-back was the T-tops and the fact I didn't care to have a back-halved car anymore.

Chris, last time I saw your 93Z, you better just let it be a by-gone, kinda like AMS. It looked like ass, esp. your "body bondo work" under the hood...LMAO! At least I was smart enough to get a welder and do it the right way. When comparing the two cars, my 85 has ALOT nicer chassis work/parts. I converted it to late model quarter glass, Wolfe nose piece. The turbo mount/ducting is badass...and we did it ourselves....I think you had someone build yours, then you took credit for it..lol.

Before you go calling someone else's car a turd, better look out at what you have and get to polishing..lol

BTW, I just closed the deal on the coupe! The 85 is for sale.

lol......"only drawback"....lol....lol. Wait...let me catch my breath..

I remember you "learning" how to weld on that car, you burn't enough holes in the engine bay with that welder, that you would NEED 3 people from different shops JUST to get it back to normal. So no, I don't need to let it be by-gone...I'll chime in and let you know it looked like POOP :) And none of this takes away from the fact that it didn't even look good before you started working on it, so its not all your fault :D

I saw one of those darned pesky Turbo People stickers on the car, can't go wrong! If you could wait 3-4 more years your 85 might be done and you could go nostalgia racing with it.

I had 3 people working on it cause I couldn't get Craig to work on the damn thing! lol

Why don't you post up a few pics of YOUR work, not someone else's? I put a few pics of my cross-over and merge that I built a few months ago. You claim to be the fabricator...let's see some of that bad-ass work. Your just like Keith Moore, run everyone else's shit down, but you don't have a pot to piss in nor a car worth a damn. lol. Drive on through ass-wipe..lol

Did Chris kick your dog or something? You seem to be extra defensive lately:) Btw, rest assured Craig's nickname was well earned and is somewhat explicit.
