Well, I gave up on my Ps2 media player. The ps2 just cant handle the load on some of the divx videos I have and it skips. I bit my upper lip and bought an Xbox that also came with an xbit mod chip. I'm having a helluva time getting this thing installed. Has anyone else dealt with one of these?

Cool, I got it sent to the xbox, everything seems to be working great, it boots up. Now I have to install the dashboard crap.

I've always been a little bit of modding for my Xbox but it sounds like alot of steps and I'm just too afraid of screwing up my xbox.

One of these days, I just need to bite the bullet, and chip my xbox too. Would be nice to have a portable divx/xvid player. My ps2 already plays my dvd-r backups. That was a pleasant surprise :D

Yeah I think thats what I'll do....Alot of money, but I'll get that shit maxed out with everything. I'll probably get it from www.themodgod.com
He fixed my brother's system recently and he's a good guy.

Once you've done one, it's really easy, but the first time I was a little nervous. The solderless chips make it fairly easy, it's installing the dashboard software that took the most time. Trust me, once it's done, it is well worth it!!

Cruz, how much did the chip cost? Do you know where to buy one?
I'm giving serious thought about doing this.
Thanks

www.xbox-scene.com has all the info and links you'll need. I didnt pay for it, it came with the xbox I bought, but I had to install it. If you want, bring me your xbox and I'll install it for you. Also, maybe you can help my little brother out with the cable modem over usage issue? ;)

I've already spoke with him about what I can do and his best options.

I believe so. There is a switch you turn off and on. Im not 100% on this but im pretty sure if you turn it off, you can still play live.

Yes, the xbit has a 'stealth' buton, if you hold the power button for 3 seconds, it turns off the chip or turns it on. You can pretty much tell if it is on by the big as logo of your bios flash.
