Granted last year.

The New French Revolution
(CBS) For almost half a century, Europe has depended on imported labor to do the kind of menial jobs its own people don't want to do -- so much so that, today, the population of France is almost 10 percent Muslim.
...
When Bellil's family discovered that she had been raped, they weren't sympathetic. They threw her out onto the streets. But she's since discovered that what happened to her was not the only case.
“There was a trial in Lille where a 13-year-old girl was gang raped by 80 men. Sometimes, it’s 80, or 50 or 10. It’s absolutely terrible,” says Bellil. “In the case of Argenteuil, it was horrible. A young woman was raped in a school. Of course, everybody knew, but they're so afraid of these young men that they prefer to close their eyes. That's the price of peace in the ghettos.”
When the verdicts came down in this case, the courthouse turned into a madhouse. Eighteen teenagers were convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl over a two-month period. But what really shocked France was how the mothers of those boys reacted.
“You call this justice, seven years in prison for some oral sex,” says one mother. “It's the girl who should be behind bars.”

Sounds like a rich Texan
"bad weather is like rape, as long as it's inevitable, you might as well lie back and enjoy it."

I would imagine a few of the attackers disapearing and never being found or being found with genitalia cut off would improve the way girls were treated. The safest place for anyone who hurt my daughter would be prison. And people on here wonder why some of us don't give a shit what Europe thinks of us.

For some reason I don't get the impression you understood the article...

Neither do I. The guys raping are a problem, but the culture says that it is ok is an even bigger problem.

I understood it fine. Not only do the boys rape the girls, but the girl gets blamed after she gets raped, hence my comment about not caring about what Europe thinks.
I also added a comment about how the fathers of the girls, I assumed they care about their daughters since the rest of their society does not, could respond to this problem and protect their children.
Sorry my response was not what you wanted.

Doesn't my response address both issues? The rapists get punished by the fathers since the culture doesn't care about their daughters getting raped. The rapists then realize, "man if I rape a girl, I may disappear like those others".
I thought it was clear enough, maybe not.

Just FYI, Islam is not considered a European belief.

Do you think the religion has much to do with it? I would hold us responsible if the same people did the same thing here in our country and we did nothing about it.

I really do. The article was not about how France is not prosecuting the violators, it was about the cultures in which it happens and (as TDD bolded) the members (EVEN THE MOTHERS OF THE VICTIMS) of the community not standing up AGAINST the actions. It's the culture that supports it.

It was the mnothers of the boys that wanted the girls in jail, unless I read it wrong.
Who would care if a mother of a girl who was raped wanted her daughter to go to jail? I don't care to help those who don't want any.

You're right, it was the mothers of the boys.
Nevertheless, the article is not about how France is handling them.

My point was that if you take out the Muslim and the France part and put in a different religion and country, my answer would be the same. I also took an opurtunity to poke a little fun at those who think our country should worry about these coutnriues when they allow this to go on.
Hell, there are mothers of rapists who blame the victim here, it is just that no one would take her anger at the victim with any sympathy.
I worked Sex Crimes for almost 5 years as a detective and have a slight problem with rapists and those who condone or minimize their criminal acts.

My point was it's not like France is allowing it...these violators are going to jail. It's just that the Muslim communities are the ones who more accept it.

I will concede that point. It's not like the muslim world has a great track record for treatment of women. I was making a bigger and more political poke at France. Sorry, but this has lost it's appeal to me. I wasn't trying to make a big statement, just poke a little fun.
