I am looking to trade my Hifonics NX440 4x110 watt amp for a better AMP. I just bought two Orion 12's and I need something that can handle them. The hifonics is in good shape and currently in my car now. I am also willing to give some cash plus the trade for a bigger amp. Please let me know what you have.

Fosgate or Orion perferred but let me know what you have.

Thanks,
James

I have an earthquake phd-2 that is modded, that I might consider trading.
2000+ watts with ease.
I would need a little cash too as well.
PM me if interested.

What in gods name do you need a bigger amp for? Just buy a good amp and you will have enough power. Any 75x2 Phoenix Gold or Orion HCCA/XTR amp will power 2 12's perfect all day long. There is no way your amp is 110X4 unless lightining stikes if it was you would not need more then that for 2 12's.

Shoot I have 2800+ watts rms going to my 2 12's and I don't feel like it's enough, lol.

Cause when I try to bridge it it keeps cutting off when i turn up the radio up and I was told that the reason why its doing that is because the speakers is is looking for more wattage then the amp can push so I am only running it too two channels which is not enough.

It cuts off when you bridge it due to the ohm load. You're basically asking a low quality amp to do a high quality amp's job. If you want something to sustain a low ohm load you're going to need something with a robust power supply and good technology behind it. In my personal opinion if it doesn't cost $1 per advertised watt then you're getting a cheap amp that won't perform to standard. By quality amp manufactures I mean Phoenix Gold, Orion, Precision Power, JL Audio, Rockford Forscrap, Xtant makes some decent equipment, Soundstream use to make good stuff not sure about now. Anything named earthquake or some odd name manufacturer I would put a penny of investment on their products. What you put in $$$ wise is what you're going to get in return. If you have 600 clean watts going to 2 12's you're going to be, depending on the car, in the 145db range. I'm not sure what spl level you're shooting for but 145db is louder then standing behind an airline jet on take off. Just cause something is rated 2000 watts and stamped on the casing doesn't mean its a 2000 watt amp. That rating is @ 14.4v max impedance load and on its best effort day will it possibly crack that power level. if you take a look at say Orion HCCA amplifiers that are rated like 75x2 or whatever that sustain a 1/4 ohm load they are 1000 watt amplifiers cause of the efficiency of the power supply. Don't get foold by a sticker telling you its MAX power. Buy clean power that is not over rated and you will be much happier. I've been involved with stereos for 12 yrs now and have never had bigger then a 100x2 amp on subs and I've been in the 145db range with all my cars. Just my .02. Hope you find something good.

Hey Tweakd,
That was about a moronic comment about the earthquake amp, considering their vehicle hit over 170+ db.
As for quality, it pushes some serious wattage, but it is not the cleanest wattage, just brute power.
The amp draws 163 amps of current and can input 0 gauge wire.
I took the amp out of my car to run 2 Phoenix Gold Tantrum 1200's and hit 153.7 on the NEW termlab mic.
Oh btw, the Phoenix Gold's came with birth sheets showing 1450+ watts RMS and I did not pay nowhere near $1 a watt, lol.
I have been in car audio for about 6 years and if you have never heard, or even call Earthquake an off brand, your insane.
Read up, they now have a 10,000 watt amp that competes with the US amps 6000 watt monster, and like the US Amp...draws over 300 amps of current.

As for the amp cutting out....Tweakd is correct.
You probably have dual 4 ohm(Orion Pro) subs and have each pair paralleled to create 2-2 ohms loads, then have those paralleled, showing the amp a 1 ohm load.

My XS100 is perfect for 2 12s and it's only rated 100 watts:) It'll hit over 150db on the termlab and 153-154 on an AC meter. Then again it takes around 150 amps at full tilt and is in a massive case. The XS series was Kicker's old cheater series btw, this particular amp's birth certificate showed 1170 watts (still extremely conservative).

Btw: Earthquake does build some crappy stuff and some good stuff, just like most of the other manufacturers.
