That is why I wear gear now... I too found out the hard way about wearing gear.... I got some very bad road rash when my front tire locked up on a ninja 500 I had.... getting the dirt scrubed out with brush is the most painful thing....I have had alot of injuries but this is the only time I have past out from pain.....So the moral of the story ALWAYS WEAR GEAR!!!!!! Even if its a short ride...

Hmmmm, I find it MORE gay when I see riders w/out anything on. Personally, I think a man in gear is sexy! ;)

<-----Has no sympathy for stupidity on a motorcycle.

I'm impressed. If you are able to determine the fact that you are invincible to accidents you must be Superman!

Can I get your autograph?

LOL, you guys act like I think Im above safety equipment. Im wearing full leathers everytime Im racing with NHRA approved simpson boots and a kill switch. Just because I dont like wearing GP boots doesnt mean Im some rebel. Besides, you try and foot shift any thing at the drag strip with some of them boots on. For those just talking and never even worn some. Ever been skiing? Snowboarding? They feel like those. Walk around in those....

But your right. I am cool....

Wearing gear = cool. So yup, you're cool.

I retract my smart ass comments now that I see you DO wear gear, just not the gear referenced in this thread. ;)

Sidi Vert IIs are actually very comfortable.

Like mentioned above, SPIDI rocks. The only complaint I have for mine (SPIDI suit) would be the zipper quality.

Damn! Nice post. I've made it a bad habit not to wear a lid when I just run around the corner etc. I won't be doing that anymore!

I had steel toes on and my foot/ankle got run over by an Expedition. Didnt hurt anything, just bruised it a bit. I was lucky.

If it would've ran over your foot from the top that little steel cup in the front could've cupped down and took all your toes off. Just something to think about.

Only morons get on a bike of any kind with out good gear. I can't count how many times my gear has saved my ass on my dirtbike.

First it was gay if you didnt wear a helmet.

Then it was gay if you didnt wear a jacket.

Now its gay if you dont go out wearing full leathers, boots, and have a first aid kit in your trunk.

My bike doesn't have a trunk.

It's more gay to die than to wear protective gear.

I suppose everyone has their preference and some are willing to take more risks than other people.

I have gone over 140 with just my lid, jacket, jeans and shoes on. I would've much prefered to do it in full gear. Even though a crash at that speed, would negate probably any type of gear that I have on.

But now that i have my boots I will always wear as a minimum, helmet, jacket and the boots. When I commute I will wear my Icon pants, when I go riding hard or pack riding with the fellows I will wear the pants also.

Which Icon pants do you have, the blue jean looking ones or the leathers.

I have a pair of the blue jean ones (In black) and I have some Fieldsheer Leather Pants that zip to my Fieldsheer jacket.
