Finally gave into the pressure and picked up a 97 gixxer 600. Bought it through Southwest Superbikes, great group of guys and I highly recommend buying from them. I will post up pics tomorrow if the weather is nice enough to ride it out somewhere more photogenic than my alley.

Cool bike, good learner and quick I'm sure. If you don't mind me asking, what was it going for up there? Kinda curious what there prices are like nowadays.

The price on the tag was $3950. Came to about $4500 with TT&L, and I know that was a little high. But I get 15-30% off on anything at Southwest Superbikes, they hooked me up on discounted insurance ($331 a year for liability and comprehensive) and the bikes been geared up a tooth, D&D pipe, smoked windscreen, flush turn signals and brand new tires. Bike runs like its brand new, I wanna get it to the dyno and see what its putting out at the rear wheels.

Obviously it's been repainted, did they say why? Just curious as people typically repaint a bike if it's been dropped as they cannot afford all the factory stickers and stuff. Did you get it financed or bought it outright? Sounds cool about the discount on stuff and insurance.

yea, apparently it had been dropped and repainted with some cheap single stage paint. A little of the frame is polished, but not all of it. I really dont like all the stock stickers, too much stuff going on there for me, I plan on doing some kind of black/real flames kinda paint scheme here when I get the $$$. I financed the bike, but not through Southwest. My uncle had some kinda credit card deal that was 3.9% interest, and it worked out to be about $700 cheaper in 2 years. (compared to southwest's best interest rate of 9%) I'm going to try to have this thing paid off ASAP though, pretty sure I can do it in under a year.

I used to own that bike once apon and time, its navy with polished and smoke screen 2 tooth up on the back crome rims, nice bike. Was in a good wreck and laid down prety hard, but even after the wreck with a cracked startor case it got me home. i wish they would of gave me 4500 for it! Good luck and let me know if you want to go riding sometime. Enjoy the weather! Remeber that Jason up at southwest is a dick head they only guy up there that really helped me out after my buddy wrecked my 900rr was Richy(cool dude) thats the only person I will deal with up there now, Jason was cool at first but after the sale he could care less.

I don't think I would ever buy anything from there. I have been there and it looks like they are just trying to rip people off.
