View Full Version : Don Nelson..
Needs to go. The mavs need a new leader. The team is in the exact same place as always, soft, and no defense. It just kills me to see Bradley play instead of Dampier. I'm not sure if Nelson has something against Damp but I've never seen him play him when we need him the most. The warriors were killing us with lay-ups and he takes Daniels out and put's Armstrong. We had no big man other than Dirk. He just kills me sometimes. If we had a new coach I think our team would react in a positive way. Anybody else feel this way?

Dampier has been playing terrible lately. Bradley had a pretty good game last night. I don't think Nelson needs to go at all. I think he is a great coach and has brought this team a long way. Avery Johnson would be the guy that took over if Nelson stepped down or was fired, I don't think he will be a good head coach. I was at a game where he was running everything and they looked like crap. I think this season Nelson has all the tools he needs to go far. We are looking much better defensively. Considering there are 9 new players on the team, I think Nelson has done a good job of getting everyone ready and they are meshing well together. I think if Nelson doesn't get us far in the playoffs this season we might want to start talking about finding a replacement when it's over. They are 15 - 9 and in Second place... come on!
Go Mavs!

Don Nelson is just like Texas Tech, always put up alot of points, but they struggle to play defense. They are always going to be like this until he is gone.
It does not help when Cuban actually thought that Dampier was comparable to Shaq. Oh well, we have already passed the number of home losses total from a year ago and we are only 25% done with the season.
They will never make it to the conference finals with that line-up. Get Tough!!
Losing Nash was the killer this year. He has turned Phoenix from pretender to a serious contender.
I think Stackhouse, and Armstrong are trade bait for the nets. Dampier may be struggling offensively but on defense he let's his presence known. More than I can say for any other mav.

I am hoping that we will make it further into the playoffs with a true center. We didn't win a title while we only lost 5 games at home.

I love how at the first sign of struggle everyone points to Nellie. How about pointing to the million dollar players that aren't getting the job done.
Last night was another back to back Home/road game and we were just flat on offense and slow on defense. Overall this season our defense has greatly improved.
Only thing that concerns me right now is a sluggish chemistry sometimes, due to lack of point guard. Daniels and Terry can play point but they aren't really true point guards. Harris looked good to start off the season but it seems Nelson has lost complete confidence in him. I'd keep giving him playing time even if he's struggling. That's how you learn from mistakes and that is what the regular season is for.....preparing for the playoffs.
I still like this years team and think they can go very far. They just need to continue to develop together.
GO MAVS!!!!

that is funny that you post that. You apparently watch to much as well
I'm not pointing Nelson out for the loss we just recentely recieved. I just think with him coaching, we'll never win a championship. He's not the coach to get us over that hump and neither is Johnson.

I don't think the coach is what's keeping us from getting over that hump. This is the best team we've had in recent years IMO. Just give them some time to play together.

That's the problem I have with Nelson. He doesn't have a core team. He needs to let our best 5 mesh together so they can have some sort of chemistry. This team is one of the best we've had but they all look lost out there together. It seems we have the same team portland had years ago, to much talent not enough pt.

guess u didnt watch the mavs last year if u think they have no defense. they have played better defense this year than last year, maybe not the best but nowhere near the "soft" defense of before.

I liked the team when they had Van Exel. If we would of kept that team the year after and developed together alittle bit more we could of won a championship. But the team and defense seems really good this year. If we make it to the playoffs and we will, were going to have to get better at home.

something is definately up. i haven't pin pointed it yet but players that we have gotten just aren;t producing like they have in previous yrs. dampier just seems unhappy. i like what i have seen so far out of armstrong but it to early to tell much.
i think if the whole team hustled like howard we'd be alot better.
just a thought but is it nelly you are wondering about or avery. seems he is a huge part of the coaching staff this yr. maybe this is the change you don't like?

Don't you wish the Mavs had the chemistry the Spurs have?

lol! the mavs like to trade everyone but a few players every season and start over. call me an idiot but 2 seasons ago if they would have kept everybody(except for the obvious) and just got a good center we would have had an awsome chance.
