TORONTO -- A former US Marine staff sergeant testified at a hearing yesterday that his unit killed at least 30 unarmed civilians in Iraq during the war in 2003 and that Marines routinely shot wounded Iraqis and killed them.
This pisses me off. They need to investigate this guy and his platoon. If it is true he needs to go to prison as a war criminal. If it is not true he needs to be shot as a traitor.

Why the hell is he in Canada, if he wants to be a man and own up to it. Do it from the steps of the capitol building.

It's hard to take a side on that one. If it's true, it's bullshit, but then again, so are suicide bombers and I'd be really nervous if you're signalling for a vehicle to stop and they just keep driving. Iraq is a scary situation, it's like all bets are off when it comes to fighting a non governmental army.

It's hard to take a side on that one. If it's true, it's bullshit, Well, not complete bullshit. Remember the rash of suicide bombers at checkpoints where we had warnings in Arabic and English warning drivers not to approach?
During one 48-hour period, Massey said under oath, his platoon set up roadblocks and killed ''30-plus" civilians. He said his men, fearing suicide bombers, poured massive firepower into cars that did not stop as they approached the roadblocks. In each instance, he said, none of the cars was found to have contained explosives or arms.
''Why didn't the Iraqis stop? That is something that has plagued me every waking moment of the day," he said. He said they may have been confused by the Americans' gestures or thought that a warning shot was celebratory gunfire.

I agree. I pissed because he is up in Canada saying that. Where has he been for the last year? Why now is he saying this?

rules of engagement - if you feel threatened, you may engage...in a place where they detonate car bombs in checkpoints on soldiers every day - and you see a vehicle failing to stop, kinda makes you feel threatened, eh?

I'm don't doubt your concerns for safety above everything else and totally agree with your ROE. I don't like this guy getting press time trying to make you guys look bad.
This needs to pushed back on this guy to fess up he is a war criminal or STFU.
That guy is a moron. If he had such a problem with it then why did he do it? Funny how he has had this sudden change of heart after he has run off to Canada.
If I was over there and a mother fucker didn't stop at a checkpoint I'd blast his fucking ass too. I bet after a few people got blasted that everyone started stopping at the roadblocks.

Damn right! I would be lighting someone up in that situation too. If someone bitches about they need to blame the people that do the car bombs since they are the ones putting people on edge.

I doubt anyone likes the idea that innocent ppl get killed during war, but lets face it IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN.
Besides no one should overlook the fact that we are not purposely killing innocent ppl much like our enemy does everyday to the people they claim to be protecting. That is what makes us better than them, and gives us the right to bring the fight to their doorsteps.
Our soldiers are uniformed and explicity visible as combatants in a war. They look exactly the same as everyone else. It is inevitable that some innocents would get shot.
Why the hell would any civilian run a military checkpoint? Unless I don't know what presses them to do such a thing, it looks alot like they are just idiots. Dead wrong idiots at that.

This guy sounds like someone who has an agenda that doesn't just include trying to cleanse his sins.
There are a lot of red flags on this one.
