I am aware that when on street tires, you go around the water box. However, I'm gonna be running slicks. I've seen some tracks that make me go into the water box with the front tires, then back out of it and drive around it, then do the burnout. Is this the procedure that they will be enforcing?

There will be a minimal amount of water present in the boxes because of the people who don't abide by the rules. So to answer your question if you do in fact have slicks on the car you can just drive through the water.

I am just a volunteer when these events are up and I try to help out free of charge to the track and DFWStangs. So the ultimate decision is up to the track crew, but I still think you will be ok.

Technically, No it has not.. but by the time the cruise gets here the ricers will start coming out again and therefore the cruise will be over at 5:00. The only thing that could change is the time the gates open.

If we can get enough publicity out and pull in some fast cars, we might be able to open the gates at 11:00am and start at 11:30. We need to come up with a few class races though. But we got to leave the whiners out because they seem to be the majority and they are what dont make the cruise races fun. We need some good heads up racing.

Since Mike (beenfetchedlately) is no longer employeed by Texas Raceway there has been some concern with the track prep. I have a call in to Dave McMillan right now in regards to the crew they have running the starting line.
If the track prep is as bad as it looked Friday night - it's gonna suck. I hope to be able to volunteer like I did last time to help out on the line to make the prep as good as possible for DFWStangs.
I am certain Texas Raceway will step up and help us out on this one as they always have in the past.
I'll keep everyone posted as to how it goes later today. (2/14/2005)

TNT would be better to line up for the grudge races.. in the TS class you will end up lining up with whoever is next to you when you pull up....

Many reasons. There are several of the "middle of the field" cars that wouldn't fit into any class. This gives them the opportunity to say they beat "someone" who has a faster car.
Technically it doesn't even matter what tree (.400,.500 or instant green) since there will be a huge span between some of the ET's that it wont even matter.
Besides - it has been posted for quite some time and this is a compilation of the PM's and requests that everyone put in.

The majority of the people who have contacted me said this is what they wanted. Like I said before not everyone will be please with the format. Going by the last turnout and the comments from teh last race everyone had a blast with the class racing. I had several comments to change the format a little to fit in this car or that car.. but there aren't many people on the board who have a car that can compete with TT, Jamesb, Da Prez or anyone that is that fast. I am trying to make a level playing field for those who wish to race in quick 8, TS or whatever. You know as well as I do that TT, Jamesb, Da Prez or any of the faster cars will monopolize the quick 8 and I am trying to NOT let that happen so the others will have a chance. I dont think there would even be 8 cars enter if they see you guys pulling into the lanes so it would wind up bieng Quick 4? If we make more than 3 classes there would not be enough time for TNT. If we make less classes everyone will want more classes to compete in to win a trophy, or a gift certificate from DM or whatever the prize may be.

It's not like DFWStangs is putting on some huge bracket championship to race for 10K$ or something of that nature. We are there to have some fun, settle some long standing grudge matches and talk some noise.

I will do this - If there are 20 people to change the rules to whatever YOU want them to be then we can do it..

The main problem for me is that the only class I can run in (being a non-DOT car) is the quick 8. And like Brooks said there is likely to be a monopoly in that class among 4-5 particular cars.

Of course, it's not about me or what I want; rather it's what the group wants. Brooks has done a good job pulling together opinions and setting up the GTG. I plan to come out anyway and burn some rubber, have a track hamburger, and watch the big boys exchange benjamins :)

The car will coming from around the Redline area. I don't want to drive it all that far but could probably unload it around the FTW area and hooters. That would still be a good # of miles.

it was, but a couple weeks ago the shift linkage somehow got off and C shifted to second and it didnt take so she over revved the motor...block was just re honed by kim barr and should be ready for the cruise, well that was the news i got today...
